Default VIPER vs. 93Z28

Saw a black Gen. 2 Viper GTs trailing me after work tonight, was in the 93. We messed around a bit in traffic, not really that much room to run. I knew i was going to get beat, but was surprised at how well i hung with him. I was on his butt a couple times and he would hit it and only slightly pull away. Keep in mind these were short little sprints. Finally got away from traffic and got next to each other right in my sweet spot. 2500rpm in overdrive, ill smack it and go to 3rd, rpms will spike up to 4400 and were off. I got a car or so jump on him and by 120 or so he only had about 2 cars on me(we started around 80 or so) Raced about 6 times with the same results. I would have expected to get pulled more, who knows maybe when we started he was in a low spot in whatever gear he was in. Guy was kind of arrogant, his passenger and him kept kind of smirking at my car. All i could think was "man if i had a TNT 100 shot kit i woulda BUSTED his A$$!!" Anyway, I had fun, never expected to win.

No controversy over you racing a Viper. HOWEVER, where do you get off saying LT1's suck?! WTF?

Granted, the LS1 is better. But it's simply a phenomenal motor. Possibly the best full-scale production motor ever made from a performance vs. drivability standpoint. However, don't get spoiled by it and say that LT1's suck. They are great motors in their own right. My '94 is running 12.4's with the original heads, and the bottom end is untouched. I routinely beat LS1's, unless they have done internal engine work, and even those I hang with to the 1/8 mile and they pull me on the big end.

I'd say you should learn to appreciate what you have.

TWS.....i was F'ing joking man. It was a sarcastic remark, mocking the general consensus of the LS1 crowd that "LT1's suck". I LOVE my LT1!

Oops, yeah, I should have said something to do with "cost" also. In any case, we are lucky to have all three motors available for our automotive pleasure.

Brian, glad to hear you love your LT1. I thought your comment could have been tongue in cheek, but don't know you so I instinctively rallied to defend that stout little motor.

Anyway, good luck and keep up the good work. I think the arrogent Viper and Vette owners (NOT ALL, just a portion are that way) need to be educated every once in a while. I totally humiliated a C5 'vert driver Saturday night. He had a B&B exhaust that I could see, but don't know about anything else. I was just minding my own business in the SS when he announced "game on" by smiling over and blipping the throttle, so I decided "school's in session"

We got lined up and dropped to 30 MPH and I let him make the move. I stomped it and when the boost came up in mid 2nd gear I just left him standing. I pulled 5-6 cars and then powershifted in to 3rd with a tremendous screech from the F1's and pulled even further. He turned off before the next light so he wouldn't have to face me.

It's the non-car guys with thick wallets that are the vette drivers I love to put the smack down on. They don't even know how to change a spark plug but they think "I have a Corvette"

"I must be faster than every Camaro". SUCKER!

drop a D1 procharger with about 12psi on that LT1 and that $80k car would look like a 1982 school bus with a full load of kids going up a hill. still a good race though.
