Lost To an Lt1
So I have seen a house down the street where there is a lt1 Z28 camaro and a 98 Trans am. I havent lived in the neighborhood to long so I dont know them but I cruise by ocasionally to see if they will come out with no succes until Tuesday night. He came out and caught up to me in a silver Z28 and may I say he put a spankin on me. We kinda fooled around until we got to a light he pulled on me hard about 2 bodys on the take off. We didnt even finish he was to fast. We pulled in to a parking lotand talked for a while he has all the mods pretty much cam and heads and so fourth he was a cool guy Randy is his name. I am supposed to hook up with him next weekend to go racing.

No he had a stall and gear so he took off fast so after I finished first I let off. We were on highway 6 and its not really a racing street kinda short with a lot of lights. But he has all the mods gears cam heds headers even NOS even though he didint spray on me.
Not all LT1's fall on their face past the 1/8th mile. My old 93 AUTOMATIC with bolt ons, stock heads/cam, AND T/C pulled 107.5mph through the 1/4 all day. Never even had a valve cover off her, 135k miles to boot. Good race, go get some more mods, those headers and some 4.10s would be a good start!

well marcez, raced a vett last night..at 1st he wanted to race for 1k, and i said **** that,if i had the money id do it...but we ended up racing for 10$ lol, at 1st it shoulda been 20$ but he bumped it down, i duuno why!
But the point of this was, everyone was looking at his car, cause we knew he had nitrous, but couldnt find the damn thing..he wouldnt pop trunk, so when we racd, i jsu twaxed his *** with spray! he had a car on me before the start, then i drug his *** all the way to 100
now some yellow stang, with mickey thompsons and 347 stroker and 200 shot i belive wants to race for 50$, and i dont feel like losing my money

Its all about having fun. Thats just me some people take it really seriously. I will be going with randy to westheimer next wednseday I will post something again then hopefully if anyone wants to race.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration. LT1s aren't bad at topend. They don't pull as hard as LS1s, but "fall on their face" is definitely an overstatement.

I just said that cause his outcome may have been better if he had ran longer. I use to own a 96 WS6 (auto) w/bolt-ons, I raced a 99 SS with Filter and a Lid and when that car shifted to 2nd he came by me like i was standing still (I knew the kid) When I got this car and did all the basic bolt ons and LT Header w/ory I race a 97 30th Z28 with a S/C (unkown type) and he stayed with me in 3rd but when we went to 4th I started to pull on him, by 5th i was a car ahead(surpised may ***) then the last time i was running out at ennis dragstrip I ran a 96 Z28 w/spray and put a car and half on him in the 1/4. These experiences is what I base my opinion on. He may have had a different outcome if he raced longer then just 1st in a longer distance race.
I honestly think we'll start seeing more "5.0" type LT1s out there, meaning that they are getting cheaper and people can spend more and more money to mod them. That would be awesome to have like a 10 second LT1 and only have like $15,000 in it, including the price of the car. If you spent $5,000 on the car, surely $10,000 would get it into the 10s. Meanwhile I'm planning on spending around $15,000 to get a LS1 T/A when I could be spending $15,000 on my Camaro. Oh well, looks over speed for now. Once I get out of school then I'll be able to afford to mod the hell out of the T/A.

I don't see why people think LT1's have to be slow. They are a SBC with reverse cooling. Most of the same parts bolt up. I think stock they are slow because their intakes suck. Other than that they can be made into monsters. I read about a 9 sec LT1 in GMHTP, so they can't be all slow. I think the LS1 is the newest 5.0 (F bodys are getting cheaper every day)and the Terminator Cobras are the new GN's.
