Does anyone know any numbers on the 96 Cobra? It's a manual with 4.10's, off-road pipe with no cats, Loudmouth catback, intake and some kind of short throw shifter on street tires. How do you think he would stack up against my 99 Trans Am auto with 2.73's, Magnaflow catback, K&N and MTI lid also on street tires. He has a hard time hooking up from a stop and he is a decent driver, I can hook up nicely with little wheelspin. Any comments are welcomed.

He might hit high 13s if he's lucky and a decent driver. It would depend on his track conditions as well. I'd say you wouldn't have too much of a problem beating him. The reason he can't hook as good as you is because of his gearing not his power. Should be a fun race though good luck.

I raced almost a full bolt on Cobra of a similar year and my time was still faster in stock form. The guy and myself arent the best drivers, but good. His car had some fight to it still, but none the less.

Damn, after reading this I am a little more confident. I thought they ran a mid-high 13 and with his mods a low 13-high 12. He has no idea about the LT1/LS1 motor so he doesn't know what kinda power the LS1 makes, he also asked what motor was in it and I said "LS1" and he replied "The LT1 beats the LS1 and I beat the LT1's so we should definatly go at it." So he is kinda not up to date on anything GM so he should have a rude awakening comming, then it will shut him up and his slow dumbass friends. He wanted to out last night to a back road and I said no, not tonite, it was 1:30 and I had work at 7 and was on my way home. One of his little ricer buddies said my car was slow and thats why I said not tonite. He drives a Mazda speed with exhuast and intake.

What's a Mazda Speed?

I'm not to sure, I have never seen his car. He said he could beat Mustangs "all the time" and he has taken a few LT1's and he said he has done it in his Mazda Speed. He is one of those guys that thinks because you fly by someone at over 100mph your car is the fastest thing, typical ricer.

A Mazda Speed is slow, thats all you need to know.

The Cobra should be good for mid 13's, they ran low 14's outta the box. Maybe this guy thinks just because the LS1 has a smaller displacement than the LT1, it makes it slower

They definatley aren't the most knowledgeable about anything but Mustangs. Thanks for the responses, I was waiting for a Cobra owner to chime in to hear what he thinks. I won't be racing until I get the MTI lid and filter in, I will let you know the outcome.

The Cobras ran low 14's stock. Their problem was the really peaky power band of the DOHC 4.6 combined with a 3.27 rear. With 4.10's the car should be a lot stronger. Also those cars had 6 catalytic converters and some of them picked up noticable gains with an off road pipe. Since your car is a full weight (t-tops, leather, Trans Am bodywork, etc.) A4 car with 2.73's I'd bet it's going to be a driver's race. Although, with 4.10's on street tires he better not spin.

I had a 97 with exact setup. With street tires I ran 13.30 @104

With drag radials I got it to a 13.05 on a warm day.

This race depends on how much he spins. Thats my honest opinion. He sounds like an idiot so you should win. Ls1 cars would out trap me so the launch was always the key.

its a miata with a turbo. when that guy says fast, he means faster than other miatas. when he says beat lt1's, he means that he did a ricer fly-by when they were turning off.
