Default who should i fear?

the title made me soundy, cocky, im not

Car: 1999 z28 m6 borla exhaust, lid

Question: To avoid getting embarassed what imports should I avoid, in my city domestics dont run domestics, we are kinda all like family

ie: Will I outrun a turbo civic, wrx? i know an evo would run me like hell, as would a well built rx7 or rx8.

On a car similar to mine, what have you guys gotten beaten by?

Again, not trying to sound cocky, it is just curiosity setting in.

It always varies, obviously depending on the mods. There's always videos of evil Supras, STi's, Evo's, 350Z's, and CRX's destroying *insert domestic beast car* etc. Best to learn what the majority run stock and how they respond to whatever mod. Or run them all, which will lead to you modding your ride if you get beat.

It's basically a driver's race. If the STi guy knows how to drive he will get you out the hole and it's your job to stick with it and reel him back in.

A stock LS1 will beat a stock STi and Evo.

Stock for stock you'll beat just about any current import. The problem is most who race aren't stock.

If you see a Supra don't expect to hear "Its stock" ten to one, its not and even BPU it will be fast. Get some mods quick and you won't have to worry about most things.

Civics are one of the most varied cars, so many are slow and some of those have mods such as turbo's or new motors. Then out of nowhere you get beat by one.

My bet, again just get some mods, heads/cam and a few other things and you'll be set.

Maybe the wrong place, but since we are talking about STI's, I saw two run tonight at the track. One ran 14.2 and the other ran 13.9. I ran 13.6 stock and currently run 13.2. I know those are badass cars, but I honestly expected better out of them. Then again, there were two EVO's last week running high 12's.

They run consistent 13.3's with a good driver (which is obviously hard to find). RX8's are really slow, I've never heard of a fast one. I've beat a few when I was stock from a roll, and he had exhaust work done and not sure what else. That's really about it though, everything u mentioned. Supras, EVO's/STI's, RX7's (pretty rare seeing one though), and be careful of the light Honda hatchbacks. Any car can be a sleeper though, so it's a matter of knowing what imports you have in your area.

Well down here we do a whole lot of street racing but some of the imports dont play fair. We raced in a huge parking lot and a back road on this strip called morland ave. I have seen evo's which was supped up just blast a ws6 and a few other cars. So you really need to see them run first before you race them.

i wouldnt rule out dsms, if its awd 9/10 times its modded. and modding it is pretty cheap so itll be decently quick probably.

as you sit right now some srt-4's might be able to give you a problem.

and I dont think id worry about 350z

Guys, I hate to say this but an EVO and STI will beat a TA/WS6 on the 1/4, marginally. Unless you have a factory freak, most on this board will agree a STOCK WS6 or SS is a strictly mid-13 second car on the quarter. Road & Track tested an EVO MR this year that ran a 13.3 @106mph. In '03, their run of an STI yielded a 13.3 @103mph. If an STI driver doesn't know what he's doing, yeah, you might be seeing 14.2's and other similar times, but don't be fooled. These cars are quicker than we give them credit for. Of course, everything I'm saying holds the presupposition that were are discussing STOCK vs STOCK.

not to mention people need to know how to drive their stock tire RWD cars also from a dig on the street, traction is a lot different out there to the awd advantage.

however on the street 90% of races seem to be from a roll.

but the awd cars need to know how to launch, which most seem to not know how to do lol.

I have seen 5-6 STI's now at the track, and not one has impressed me. Some of them are hardly stock, yet they run crap. I would not shy away from running one for a second. And if he handed me my ***, I'd shake his hand and tell him he has a badass car. As for magazines testing these cars, I know Motor Trend has tested SS Camaros at 13.2 bone stock. There is a very nice article floating around somewhere called "Accleration Nation" that compares Vettes, WS6's, SS, Cobra, GT3000 VR4 and some others. They ran a stock '99 SS at 13.2 and a stock WS6 at 13.0. So I can't agree with your first statement. However, I would never talk smack about these cars. A fast car is a fast car regardless of what it is!

You dont need to fear any stock imports if you shift good. Not Sti, not Evo (dont race the from 0-60 though), Definetely not stock rx7 and stock rx8. Even modded rx8 would be slow as hell. You cant never tell anymore which cars are fast. Two nights ago I heard a turbo camry! M3 should be right there with you.

But fear the V8-7 Beasts!!

My opinion is obviously lacking that info. A 13.0 w/ an SS on the quarter? I've never seen that. Maybe some car journalists are smoking something good, and of course, STI times and Evo times may be overly-optimistic, too, as a result. If you adjust times for both (SS/WS6 & STI/EVO), however, w/ real track experience, then they're obviously closely matched, a driver's race... Thanks for the counterpoint, 99Hawk262.

A driver's race... A driver's pull, not a machine pull- on an STI/EVO...

Trust me! I can't stand these little four-door cheap rally cars myself! In rally, a car can't be refined, precision-made, or complex. The beating they take means one car may last one race! There would be too much money at stake. So, they have to be cheap too. They're excellent rally cars, but they're not sports cars. They have freakin' four doors! FOUR DOORS! Nasty, man! I'll take sports cars, thank you. Supra, Rx-7, 300ZX, those were the good days. Those are the real import GT's... I do miss them as well as our...grrr... Manufacturer's... dismissal of our beloved F-body.

I can't stand them, but they dip, man.
