i'd say bet for sure. there's no way he can take you by 10 car's in the eight with your 1/4 mile time's. but one thing, if it's close and since it's for money, how are you actually going to be able to judge the ten car lengths. you could beat him fair and square and he could simply say it was ten car lengths. especially ten vega car lengths.

If you are running street tires then I would say hell no don't do it. If you have some Nittos or BFG's and can hook decently on the street then go for it! He will need an 8 second car if both of you hook the same on the street.

FWIW... my dad had an auto+stalled 73 vega with a 9" and a little stuff done to his 350 and it turned 11.90's... so if this car has a big block with some serious motor work and spray... you might be in for it, I'd make sure your car is hooked VERY well on the button, cause that vega will probably launch like an SOB on the street. I have never raced a vega, never want to on the street ever since my dad told stories about his. He was beat once out of racing every day for about 3 years of having the car. I was told the guy who bought it put a diff carb on it and ran 11.30's or so... and thats with a small cam. Beware... 500 bucks is a costly race to find out with. I'd personally stay away from him, but if you think you can beat em... check out his ride first for sure... if you know carb'd motors beware of the big blocks in em. WIIIIIIICKKEEEEEEDDDDDD . GL on the race if you do it, I hope you "beat him badly"????? [EDITED DUE TO... YEA]

The dude's pretty ballsy and/or stupid for giving 10 car lengths to a 10 second 1/4 mile car in the 1/8th.. Either that or he knows he can win.
I'd be really careful. If you decide to race for money, make sure you bring TONS of friends and have someone you trust hold the money. People have been shot for less than $500.
Good luck,
Matt
