So by your own story we can gather that you stayed with him until 80mph, in which he put 1.5 cars on you by 100mph? Thats a hard core *** whipping, 20mph and he put a car and a half on you? Ouch

 

That's exactly what I was thinking. How can you stay side by side until 80 then get pulled that much in 20 mph. Maybe he had one of them turbo thingies.

Mod your LT1 and race LS1's all you want. Some you'll win and some you'll lose. It's called he who has the most mods wins (most of the time). IF you actually build a 420 rwhp LT1 you'll win most races against almost any type of car. But then again there are 500, 600, 700 & even 800+ rwhp LS1's,Vettes,Cobras, ect out there so take no one for granted. Because no matter how fast you are there is always someone faster.

I could come here and bitch about how Cobras are faster or how the LS2 makes more power then my LS1 but what would be the point? I'm happy with what I have and plan to further mod my car just for fun. Not to beat this car or that car but just to beat my own personal best ET. The only compitition I need is on my own time slip. This is a great way to keep yourself safe, out of the courtroom and above all else SANE. Because if I concerned myself with needing to beat every LT1, Mustang or whatever then my sanity would be shot as I do not have the funds to compete with 8 second cars

 

Well, this has been fun. Its amazing how worked up some people get over their cars (myself included). I mean, its a ******* car. I'll stop now because this is pointless and all of us are wasting time bickering about it. I guess I just got butt hurt that some of the people were posting kills on LT1s and making them seem like piece of **** cars when they really aren't.

 

Just look at it this way, the ones they raced where POS's, that doesnt mean yours or anybody elses is.

When I was completely stock, I raced an LT1 Z28 with body kit, CAI and full exhaust. From a dig, I got the jump (about 1/4 car), and by 80 he had 1 car on me. We did it again, this time we came of the light at the same time, we were side by side through first, in second he pulled about 3 feet on me, and by the top of third when I let off, he was a full car length on me. Admittedly, I am a slow shifter , and most of the ground I lost was in between shifts. It seems like a driver mod on my part would have evened it up, but honestly, I don't think my car was any faster at those speeds.

The guy was cocky as hell though.

 

Its about decency and respect. I realize that its the same on every board but why bash the older brother just because he's older and slower? I can understand talking down on cars you kill that sound like my weed whacker at full throttle but damn, LT1s and LS1s are in the same family. They are both small block V8s and are both powerful motors. I think they both sound damn good also, especially with a radical cam and full exhaust. Oh well, I guess thats just what people do nowadays instead of being humble. If they have something better than someone else they rub it in and be a dick about it.

 

A cocky LT1 owner? He better watch himself, lol. There aren't too many of them around for obvious reasons.
