I used to own both a '94 Z and a '98 T/A both w/ catbacks. The Z had CAI and the T/A was otherwise stock except the free mods. On the same dyno the Z put down 271 RWHP while the T/A 311 for a 40 horse difference. This story is believable but I would have to say that race these two again and again and the Vette will win probably 9 times out of 10.

I agree. The 'Vette should win.

The vette was a stick i could tell by the way i jumped on him after the launch..he went..then shifted ...thats where i jumped on him...i know that he should have beat me and thats why i was not going to even try and race him from the beginngin. I have raceed other C5's pm the freeway and gotton smoked its all about the car what he has in it and how he drives it too. ...but it is street racing and **** happens like casper said....i mean things go bad or he could have mishifted, or something but a kill was a kill we gave each other thumbs up after and it was all koo....and yes it happened in San JOse CA.

I owned a 94 that was kinda a freak from the factory bone stock A4 car ran 13.60 @ 102. It was a weird car I could pull 1.80 60' with it on street tires all day long. Dont know what was up with that car wish I still had it RIP. You hear of a freak LT1 every once in a while. But as someone posted earlier if you raced it agian the C5 would prob win 9 out of 10 times

yea im not denting that he would win more times than none...but the one time we raced i won and it felt good....i wouldnt mind running into him again in a while and see what happpens again all for good fun...but as soon as i got my car i thought it was a factory freak ...and all the time when i race people think i am spraying on them and i have 373 gears.....that was when i was stock.....no headers....no one believed me that i was stock....it was a good feeling to think people were thinking i was spraying and i was stock

Yeah man things like that happen often, there's a lot of those freak LT1's running close to mid 13's!

I disagree. Most LT1's are 13.9 - 14.4 in stock trim. Mid thirteens takes a very strong car matched with a very strong driver. While it does happen, it's like the LS1's that ran 12.8-12.9 stock. It's happened but don't expect to see it often or be able to do it yourself.

Edit. And you have to be careful of when people say they are stock. Some people think CAI, free mods, weight reduction and Drag radials still qualifies them as stock

You should take her to a 1/4 track and see what she can do. There is nothing quite as exciting to me as seeing that green light and hitting a good launch. My heart always pounds all the way down the track.

And it's a great place to check out some real sweet single digit rides

I believe Patman, a mod on this board, ran a 13.6 E/T while bone stock.

Oh I didn't say I didn't believe it ever happened. I'm sure it has. But I also know for a fact that 14.0-14.2 is far more likely and considerd more "normal times" from a truly stock A4 LT1.

He wants everyone to believe that all LT1's run mid 13's stock when in fact most do not.

Believe it or not there are corvette owners out there that don’t shift past 5000rpm. My day will run it hard and bang thru the gears chirping 2nd and 3rd, but he shifts at 5k. He just doesn’t see any reason why he needs to shift any higher when having fun on the street.

True, LT1s are by no means stock monsters. It's once you break into the motor that you can release some of its' potential.
