k....

That's basically a 96-04 Mustang GT with fwd then. Define "some" nitrous

They could easily take 100shot, with pulling timing a bit, I think 150 shot wouldn't be a problem. Headers, exhaust, intake, nitrous, and sticky tires would get this car into 12s.

Remember that you could always loose at least 200lbs by just taking the seats and spare out.

Talking

GTPs move.. depending on the mods.. They're very easy to get into 12s now.. The Maxipad is a POS when it comes to performance, the GTP isn't

Just like the new Cobras, the GTPs respond very nicely to mods... a 3.4" pullley, re-program'd PCM, Intake, rockers/headers or ported stock manifolds and you're upper to mid 13s @ 99 - 101 mph, depending on how stout the motor is .. go down to a smaller 3.25" or 3.1" and port the blower [Eaton M90] and you're knocking at 12s / low 13s.. and the aftermarket keeps going for these cars now..

Now, if that particular GTP only put one car on the Max, then it's probably not gonna do any damage to the LT1.. but launch HARD against the GTP.. otherwise you'll be playing catch-up to that torque monster!!

I can't bear all the Maxima hate in this thread... My poor neglected 4th gen is jealous enough of the Camaro as it is.

15.5ish in a 1/4? Something's definitely wrong there... a stock automatic 3.0 Maxima MIGHT get that kind of time on a bad day... a modded MT shouldn't have any problems being in the 14s. I'm assuming it wasn't a 3.5, or else I cry for that guy's driving skills. On the other hand, it was a street race timed by "his little thing", so I guess all bets are off. In any case, I love Maximas and wish I could defend them better, but a 3.0 Maxima just isn't in an LT1's class whatsoever. I don't even think he COULD sell it and get an LS1....

What year GTP was it?

An M6 05 Maxima/Altima will give a stock LT1 a good fight.

I ran against a Infiniti G35, which is pretty much the same as the Maxima, last year.

He ran a 14.07 @ 102. That's not bad for a car like that. That was with 18" wheels on it, and NO mods.

Eug, I don't hate Maxi's at all bro.. they're great rides!!.. it's just that they're not the kinda cars one would buy to mod [performance wise] .. They're great family cars with some ***** to haul.. esp with the MT and 3.5 motor!

no hate here.. I love all nice cars, domestic or import

We'll start with the fact that the newer VQ3.5's make more power than a lot of Mustang GT's until recent years, and weigh in about the same. So going by your logic, who in the hell would modify a Mustang GT??

There are plenty of 3.5 6sp Max's in the very low 14's @ just under 100mph. With minor bolt-on's 13's are easily attainable.

Now, from my own personal experience, I owned a '04 Altima 3.5 SE A4. "Rated" at 20 less hp than the Max's and weighing in at a tick over 3k lbs made them just as, if not more, capable than the Max's. I ran my BONE STOCK Alty to a best of 14.22 @ 97 with a 2.0 60. I later added 100shot of nitrous and went a best of 13.24 @ 106 with a 1.99 60. Took out quite a few stockish LS1's among other "sporty" or modded cars. No, those #'s are nothing special, but the sleeper effect was oh so cool. You don't know how many guys I had coming up to me at the track asking about the car after I cleaned their clock. Again, nothing special, but definately not shabby for a "4 Door Family Car".

And the VQ3.5's seem to be taking to FI pretty well also. A little over a year ago we had a guy on one of the Alty forums doing the first prototype turbo set-up. I don't remeber all of the details but with a stock motor + the turbo set-up he was dynoing around 430whp. Think about it, I ran low 13's with probably less than 300whp.

EVO's, WRX's, STi's, CTV-S's, SRT-4's, SRT-8's, SRT-10's, Lightnings...who the hell would modify anything with 4-doors or 4,5k+ lbs????

Just saying, the potential is there.

Jon

The G35 and the 350Z share a chassis... I don't think the Maxima uses the same chassis, but all three use the same engine, the VQ35DE. The effect ends up being pretty much the same, except for the RWD/FWD difference.

I should just point out that the 2000 Maxima didn't have the 3.5L engine, it had the 3.0... less power overall, but better low-end pickup.

The G35 is supposable going to be known as the new skyline soon. But for now on all the forums they call the G35 the 350Z 2+2 because of the rear seats. The chasis are different and not similar at all though.

They are both built on the same basic chassis, with the G35's being stretched compared to the Z's.
