A 03-04 Cobra was my first choice while I was looking for a car. I also had my eyes out for a nice SS with low miles. I must admit after driving the Mach 1 and seeing the shaker from the drivers seat....it was over for me.

I do wish that the Mach's had a forged bottom end like the Cobra's motor but I suppose our motors are still safe for 8-10psi boost.

Nevertheless, I will be the first to say that the post in this thread are by far the most mature/respectful that I have ever read while in a forum. Kudos to everyone that posted for keeping it real.

A guy I work with has a '03 Mach I Auto with a Pro Charger and 15 lbs. and it ran 10.96@125 mph with all stock internals. It's his daily driver, and he's not easy on it....

It sounds like that guy will be replacing this motor very soon. His tune must be very mild. They say 8-10psi of boost is all the Mach's motor can safely run (on the stock tune with 10:1 compression) and not break ****.

I will be going the N20 route very soon.

Man Cobras are the ****. I love my W-S dot 6, but my buddy's Snake is ****** mean man... Diablo chip, complete Bassani exhaust, and some Steeda suspension goodies, and the fact that it only cost him 5000 more than what I paid for my ride (22,000) Much respect for the Bra.

Not too many mild tunes produce 10's and trap 125mph.

That wouldn't be CMYLXGO on the Mach1 registry would it?? Because he has the exact same set up your talking about.. Red Auto Mach1 with a Procharger D1SC.. I have seen the vids he has and that thing is mean.. I saw the boost gage hit 15psi.. Doesn't he have a built motor ready to go in once he blows this one up?? It just hasn't happened yet and I think he said he has over 20K miles on this set up too not just on the car...

Default Cobra kill and brutal Death. Enjoy!

Speaking of the 03-04 Cobras much repect as I am 1-1 in racing cobras, My first meet was in June of 2004 on I-40 about mid way through BFE Arizona. I was driving across country from Charleston, South carolina to West Hollywood,California to drop off my friend from there to Chico California. Cross country trips are great any won who's ever done one can allways talk about a good high way race or in my case 4 to 5. Any how I just finished the mods to my WS6 and I was cruisin at about 100mph the speed limits are 75 by the way on that interstate. When all of the sudden this 03 comes out of no where rips past so fast/loud it made me literally jump, So I reach down grab 4th and pace him just to see how fast he is going. He finally stops pulling me at about 135mph. Theres some traffic ahead blocking both lanes and naturally he slows down and I catch up to him. Every body knows how there is allways that one car or truck that has to pull out and make their slow as pass with their cruise on when if they had waited 20 secs longer we would have been gone. But in this case I'm glad this car did. So I get behind this Cobra doing about 60mph and every LS1 guys knows that we are the underdog here so I reach down and put the TA in 3rd my buddy looks over and says hey there's enough room in the right lane between the row of Trucks were passing for you to make it, so of course I go for it and get around the Cobra and slow, car finish passing the trucks and it smooth sailing so I move over to the Right lane put the TA in 4th and just wait sure enough here comes that Cobra pulling up as I'm watching the side view. So down my peddle goes @ about 90mph are were off I matched his speed and exceleration right as his rear bumper is at my front we stay right there up to 120mph I grab 5th gear and were still on get to about 140 and I just bearly start to creap up on him about 155mph we are right side by side and I am slowly gaining. I grap 6th look at my tach and its only at 3,300 RPM's so I jam the gas again Finally I pull about 2 cars and he starts dropping off quicker so he has obviously let off so I do to look at the tach one last time its at 4000 in 6th with the stock 3.42s as we brake back down to some what civilized speeds I give him a thumbs up. Me and my buddy pull onto the next rest stop and he follows me in. We talk for a few minutes and go on our way. The whole time after this high speed run I'm literally shaking especially when I pushed in the clutch, that was the first time I ever had the car over 135. So thats my first run with a 03-04 Cobra. The second time I wasn't so lucky I ran into a guy on highway 64 in Virginia putting 648HP to the ground and he sucked the TA in the its intake and spit my poor beaten car back out his exhuast that was about a 40mph to holy *!?. that car is insanely fast I didn't even bother going over 100mph he already had me by at least 6 cars!
So once again its back to the lab and the only way I can compete is with nos or boost, Dont take this wrong for all you Nos guys but I dont believe in it so its forged internals and and intercooled t-60 with about 14psi for me. So there's my kill and death buy the mighty Cobra. Hope you all enoyed the story.

This is actually a cool discussion b/t mustang guys and f-body guys, on most forums each car group would be hardcore-bashing the other, props to everyone.

BTW-i'm a mustang guy at heart (going on my 6th), but i still love the ls1's (and DEFINATELY respect their power and potential)

I've got no problems with Mustangs. The only thing I think Ford should do is get rid of the 4.6 and start using the 5.4 in it's Mustangs. When you go from a 302 5.0 to a 281 4.6, I don't know whether that's considered downgrading or not. GM keeps going up in displacement, not down (346 5.7 LS1 to 364 6.0 LS2 to 427 7.0 LS7). I think Ford should do the same, and I think they will be in the future. With the new Shelby Cobra GT500 coming out next summer and with it having the 5.4, I think you will see them use that 5.4 in the other model Mustangs too. I don't keep up on Ford as much as I do GM, nor do I know as much on Ford engines as I do GM engines, but that's just my 2 cents.

"AMERICAN MUSCLE - Birds of a feather flock together." That's a good motto to go by when an american muscle fan. Let's stick together and not fight with each other, but rather our import enemies. At least that's how I see it. I don't gotta problem with Ford or Mopars, even though GM is atop my list of american cars. I am born american, drive american and will die american. Never will you see me in an import.

Talking

Unit: your ride is freakin awesome post some more pics for us to on !!!

The one thing I can never get over is how much meaner the Mach1 and the Cobra sound compared to our LS1s...

Driving on the turnpike [ NJ pike that is ] I hear a growl approaching and getting louder and louder.. and then BAM!.. I see this 03/04 Black Cobra fly by me doing atleast 130 mph ... and guess what was trying to keep up with it.. but in vain .. a TT Supra!! ..

That damn Cobra sounded like Thunder!!!

God.. I love the new Cobras!!!

It's pretty much semantics, but GM actually went down in displacement after changing their performance motor from the LT1 to the LS1.
