Default AWD Truck vs Vette

What would be quicker in the 1/8 mile? An early 70's 1/2 ton truck with AWD that weighs around 4,200 lbs with 1,000 AWHP or an early 70's vette than weighs around 3,500 lbs with 800 RWHP? The vette would have nittos out back. The truck with nittos on all four.

Truck would have big block turbo. Vette would have 427 small block turbo.

Vette has lighter weight but truck would have AWD.

I think traction would decide that, its such a short race for those numbers. With that hp, the vette should get some real slicks, and why is the vette so heavy?

This would be for the street so no slicks. Nitto's or some other drag radials. Maybe the vette would be a little lighter.

Figure I could get a 73-74 Chevy C10 short wheelbase truck and drop in a big block around 600 cubes with a turbocharger and convert it to AWD. Should be a rocket up to 100 mph.

I just used 1/8 mile as an example of a short race up to 80 or 100 mph max. Can't really go too fast on the street. Seems like most cars that are real fast at the strip couldn't hook up on street tires in a short race. That's where the AWD should help out. I just want to beat the ricers at their own game. They have AWD and turbos. I figure to do the same thing only with a giant V8.

I do it with a V6 all the time. Just make sure you do AWD cuz a turbo truck thats only RWD is just a burnout machine. I'll beat most street cars from light to light.

The truck is unusual but they're sure are lots of real fast old vette's out there.
