I know this is possible in 5th gear theoretically, but why not use 6th. i know it takes a lot of power to be able to push 6th gear at high speeds. any one know how much power and/or torque it would take to max out 6th gear in a t56 f-body with stock gear ratios? also how fast would it be going while maxing out 6th??

pretty damn fast is my guess

6th gear maxed would be like 268. There's no way a regular car could remain stable at that speed.

Nobody I know has done 200 in an LSx, not even NataSS. It takes more than HP to do it. You do realize that our stock tires are only rated to 168 right ? And that the highest rated street tires are rated to 186 mph. If you're going to go that fast you'd better have some race only tires on your car because if you have a blow out at 200 you're probably not going home again

I went on a run early one morning with the intention of hitting 150mph...I scoped out a perfect road....I ran it up to 135 and wimped out..I told myself that was fast enough..But I did run the next 4 miles after that holding 125mph and it felt so sweet, never passed one car, heart beating hard. That kinda of filled my high speed crave....0-100 for me now

I wanna get old the goverenment owes me money

I wanted to add that it is possible to hit 200+ in a LS1. I have a video of a guy that runs in Nevada in some run where its all high speed stuff. I think he hit 208 in a T/A..im not sure what was done to it, but it is modded im sure. The video shows a Viper blowing the engine at 190 right in front of him spilling oil all over All the timing/speed is done with GPS so its legit. I got the video off the internet, its like 10 minutes long, with a great in car shot as he flys....anybody else see it ? I have it saved.

fastest i've been is 150 (assuming the speedometer is accurate at that speed) in my bone stock Z28...and it actually didn't even feel like i was going that fast. it was as steady as it is at 80mph, until the time came to slow down, then it got a little bit wobbly, but not too bad.

i hit 154 according to speedometer, that was on a slight uphill... i dont think my car can go too much faster at all with the a4 3.73s, also idk if my TC had anything to do with it?

Car Craft '93 Cobra made 200 mph back in 1994. I've got the issue stashed somewhere in the collection. Decent amount of prep work done to the vehicle and it was ran on a closed track, large oval. Supercharged GT40 preped engine. I believe 500 hp was the minimum requirement to push it that speed.

Yup, I still havent hit 200 yet. Officially I have never exceeded 150mph, unofficially I have been north of 185mph then was beginning to run out of road, but the car was wheezing its last breath at that speed and just wouldnt go any faster. The old motor just didnt have enough power.

Going fast is more than just sticking your foot on the floor. You have to look at the total package. HP, tires, brakes, suspension, areodynamics, air managment, serious cooling on just about every reciprocating part etc etc etc etc.

Bingo !! Thats it...I thought it was over 200 mph though . Not like 172 is parked or anything. That is awesome being able to run like that legally. Great video

I had mine up to 16Xmph............at that speed it was accelerating so slowly and the car felt like it was going to flip, so I let off. I know it was over 160mph. Just don't remember exactly how fast it was.

i've had mine to the point of it feeling like it was going to pick up off the road and fly away...my buddies Evo read past 170 and i was walking him rediculously, so i assume i was doing over 300mph...

anyway, doing that is like giving a loaded gun to a 3 year old...never know what might happen- like a deer running out, or this one time i almost hit an alligator

Saw a discussion the other day about the fastest production car in the world.

Alot of people said it was a Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette that reached a speed of 254.76 MPH in 1988.

This still holding up?

"Offically", yes. I believe so. Unoffically I believe it's been beat several times. The new bugatti Veyron is within 2mph of the sledgehammer vette.
