Does he have turbo toys? What about supporting mods like exhuast? map clamp? Lots of things to consider. If its a stage 2 w/o toys, and nothing else you should take him roll or dig. Stage 2 w/toys on 100 octane might beat you. Stage 2 w/toys and all supporting mods, tuned with a map clamp or some type of air/fuel control he will probably walk you pretty hard.

Finally it seems someone else understands the SRT mod path. Everyone I know seems to think that Stage II is a big power mod..... in reality it is in some sense a power mod, but it is more or less a supporting mod. It gives more fuel for more boost (for better Waste Gate Actuators for more boost at redline, boost controllers, etc etc), improved maps for more boost, calibrated for high octane. Now you have to actually do some real power mods to take advantage of all of that extra fuel and 3 bar map sensor.....and Tuning to dial in the setup is the key.

Stage II cars are a wild card.... it all depends on whether or not the owner takes the time and the money to buy all of the supporting mods + doing the tuning. There is a pretty wild stage II car in the area that is expecting to hit 280FWHP on the dyno in a week or so..... thats not far from a Stage III car with the recommended supporting mods.

I say run'em...... but get his full mod list... Stage II tells you nothing except that without tuning and other supporting mods, he is running pig rich.

From a dig you will not get it or it would be a close race. I had a stage 2 srt 4 05 before it was totaled. I remeber when it was stock I used to give my bfs mach 1 a good run for his money from a roll. You will beat it if you race from a stop. Most of the time in those cars you have serious traction issues. You really have to know how to drive one but they are highway monsters. If they have modded it correctly and have different tires on it you will probably be in trouble. Race him from a stop that is your best chance.

I'll tell you the trick for an SRT launch. WOT in 1st gear = suck *** launch. I got my best 60ft times 1/2 throttling it through first.

A Stage 2 SRT-4 probably runs from low 13's to high 12's if I'm not mistaken. With the power-weight-ratio in the favor of the SRT-4 I'd say advantage SRT-4 but it's a driver's race.

The race already went down about a month ago, there's another thread on here somewhere about it. Cliff notes: Redline Brian raced the SRT-4 to about 90ish and put a car on him. He was stock at the time -- '02 Z28 except for a K&N. I then raced Brian to about 90 (ran out of road) in my Lid / catback SS and put about a car on him. Good times.

Edit: here's the thread with the details for those interested: https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/424018-finally-raced-my-buddy-stage-2-srt-ss.html
