Default First Race..

So I've had my TA for a few weeks now, and tonight on my way home someone found me, and wanted to run. This person had a 70s style GMC pickup, with a cam, exhaust, and DRs at first glance. It sounded *mean*.

We're driving, and he passes me, throwing a rev.. I get into the lane next to him, and we both punch it (about 30mph). We get to about 85-90 before catching up to traffic, and I was about a car ahead of him.

I was just going my way home, and he apparently was going the same.. we get to a light, where there's no buildings/houses/lights/traffic for about 2 miles ahead, and we're lined up. Green light goes, and so does my traction. I'm spinning through first, catch second, keep spinning, car is a little squirly in the back. Truck is somewhere behind me being loud as hell. He stays around my rear bumper until about 115 where we both shutdown and he's about even with me.

We pull off, I ask what he's got in there, he says something like "It's a bigblock, stroked" and a bunch of other things that I honestly don't remember. He said it was putting down 470RWHP, and he'd got it into the 11s at the track. He also said that he "ate up a vet" earlier.

He also said that my car ran damn good for stock.

I have a hard time believing the 11s, as if it were true, he should have killed me from the dig, but he didn't. As I figure my car's mid to low 13s, by the time I got to 115, it'd have been past a 1/4th, and he should have been several lenghts ahead of me. Anyway, it was fun.

Nice race. My best friend used to have a early 70's Ford pickup with a 460 and lots of spray. He used to try to race people in newer cars and they would just laugh at him. Those that actually gave it a try were tore up pretty bad. That truck was a pretty good sleeper. He threw the motor into a Capri that he tubbed/four link and is running in the 10's on a pretty tired motor.
