Me v.s. Viper
to further expand on the tires portion I believe those are 335's!!! they are massive and will hook amazingly well so beware, and please don't do it on the highway... the faster you guys launch from the worse you are going to be.... lighter and more power than you which equals raping on the highway
I wouldnt do it unless you know for sure the guy cant drive it for **** because the torque those put to the pavement are sick even if you get the jump that 500+ ftlbs of torque will get him up to you quick!
i figured it wouldnt be enough ya they come stock with 335s in the rear. I know hed still probably beat me but i was hoping to just surprise him. Maybe ill have to wait a few more months and get the N2O hooked up and spray the 100 on him. Hes a friend of mine so i just wanted to run him just to see how well i could put up against that beast.
the torque is a big thing in thoes cars but they only come with 3.07 gears in them. But i guess the torque makes up for that. Anyway ill probably tell him i want to run him anyway. I ran his formula and 383 monte carlo and his CTS-v so all thats left is his viper. I beat all his other cars and he always says when should i bring ol' red out.
I say run him,why not?
With all that Torque those 335's don't stand a chance if he gets alittle to agressive on the launch and 1-2 shift.
I have personally seen a race between a buddies Imp and another buddie in this late 90's Viper.
That Viper got so out of shape on the 1-2 shift that he almost smacked the curb and aborted the whole run.
Your 4:10's and Drag radials might help you get out of the way of the swinging Viper rear end just in time.
Do it for fun,but don't get bent if he pedals it and runs away from you.
With my 4000 stall/drag radials and a low pressure 100 shot(600 psi) i pulled a Viper past 100 where he shut it down first.
Good luck.
Dave

I say give it a try. He's your buddy and you are not running for money, so why the hell not? It's never a shame to lose to a faster car and always nice to keep up with one

Run him and get it on a video!

Now for the good news.......IF he's not real accustomed to launching that car then you MIGHT be able to get him up to 330' and if he's granny shifting then you could theoretically be at best beside him at the 1/8 or only about 1.5 cars back but after the 1/8 hang it up and say "good run".
The only reason I say that you might get him is because of the clutch....IT SUCKS! basically it's lighter than a 4cyl truck and releases higher than a stock LS1 clutch. It has no feel to it what so ever, and just really sucks all around. so if he's not too accustomed to that then you may have a chance in hell.
My first post here...should have registered a long time ago...glad to be abord!
That Viper will have hooking problems no matter what. I drove an 03 and I tried getting on it in first and with the tires cold, I lost traction bad. They are 345 wide not 335. With that said, that was my first time out in a newer one so I had to play around a bit to get a good feel for what to not do in first and even second gear. It sounds like the guy knows how to drive so he will know not to romp on it until about 60 or so. You will probably get a slight leead on him with a good launch but with those 4.10 gears, you might still have some traction issues on your own so practice first. Another thing about the 03 and up Vipers is they dyno close to 500RWTQ!! Yes, Dodge's crank ratings in torque were a bit of a lie. The torque on the low end is sick. Once he is able to get some traction, which will be the end of first gear, he will pass by pretty quick. You guys should be even until about 40-50 unless his tires are heated up. Then it will get bad for you...hope this helps!
