How fast is an S2000?
The other day after work I was on my way home and there was little traffic so at a light I get next to an S2000. I don't really expect to race but he takes off and when I shifted to second I could hear how he was pacing me but holding his gear. I shift to third at about 30 and can really hear his car and he's still pacing me so I downshifted to second and accelarate to about 45. He is kinda jumping and pacing so I take the hit and pull the rest of second and go into third a bit, he was behind about 2 to 2.5 lengths with mee pulling. we get to the next light I take off casually again as does he. This time he hit it and got a about 2 cars pretty quick while in 3rd again I drop it to second and pulled to his bumper when I revved out 2nd, hit 3rd and over took him then shut down.
I know these things have like 240 hp but I didn't expect by any means to be able to pull on him like I did. I am just wondering how others have fared against them. His car looked like it had exhaust work done at least, I am stock.

They are pretty slow. I raced one the other night...if you call it a race I guess. We jumped on it at like 40, I was in second, and I jumped like two cars on him in literally 5 seconds. Then he gave up and turned off. I guess for a stock car they are pretty decent though. I have never heard anything bad about em.

My brother had a 2000 S2K, and it was fun to drive, but to launch/race you have to rev to 6000+ before dropping the clutch. Then he had the motor seize about three times in two years. Spun rod bearing a couple of times, and the windage tray dropped into the oil pan blocking the pickup. Finally he bought a totalled one to just swap the motors.

The one I rode in exibited much tire-hop and I was unimpressed GREATLY by this, other than that and SUCKING on take-off it was hell of a car. I like the EVO's MUCH better though (except for looks) I guess if I had to get a 4-banger I would probably hock over the extra 15K or so and get a Lotus Exige(spelling?). Those are impressive to me.

There is no sentance with the words " S2000 " and " fast " together.
Sad part of this one is th fact that your average stock S2000 is probably faster from a 60 roll than Stanger88 and all of his mods ...

Sad part is my two of my friends own s2000s. The one guy was getting into his, and missed the 2-3 shift, hit the limiter hard, and bent quite a few of the valves. My other friend bought one from a dealership, and didn't even get the thing home before the motor seized. Although that had to do with the fact the car had no oil in it for some reason....
I dont know my Fords but Stanger looks like he's got a nice combo going there.
