do yall consider a 3000gt vr4 rice

People who are saying they are heavy and slow are ignorant. Yes they are heavy but they do have AWD and will rip most cars a new one on the street from a dig
They are cheap to mod; throw a mbc and gauge, dp, and filter on it and your good for about a 12.6-12.8 ( thats under 300 )
Yes the stock fuel system blows; but its as simple as new injectors/fuel pump and a piggy back that will fix that problem. The options are getting better for them. For under 3k you can have a turbo/fuel/exhaust setup that will net you 11s on the track or the street.
very fun and fast cars; and unfortunatly for most people that dont know about them they are very underated. NA 160-220 hp models look almost identical to the vr4s so they get a bad rep for being slow

the VR4 is an import, thats about as close as it comes to being rice, any car with 300+ # tq from the factory is impressive to me. Stock I saw a LOW 13' second (if not 13.00) from a magazine time or something online. They also pulled like 13.02 out of a Trans Am, they got DAMN good results few of which I have seen duplicated, but i guess with a MAD launch a VR4 is low 13's if you can DRIVE (and enjoy drivetrain repair). They look damn nice though, I always thought of them as the Mitsubishi Ferrari.

VR4's are excellent cars. As stated above their only downfall i their weight however that is overcome well with the twin-turbo and AWD setup.
As far as racing him, the only way you'll know is if you go and do it. There are to many variables, for starters what do you drive LT1 or LS1, do you have mods, does he have any mods. And a pretty important factor...DRIVER! Definetly go and race him but don't do it under a twisted perception that they are slow and don't be surprised if you lose, it's very possible!

The old school definition based on my understanding is that "rice" is derived from
"rice burner" which was a term used to describe Japanese bikes. My dad used that
term when I was a kid (20+ years ago). By that definition, yes...a 3000GT is rice.
The definition seems to have evolved a bit though.

I had a friend give me a ride in his Stealth TT, I should've wore diapers! That thing is sick fast from the dig.
I almost bought myself a 93 VR4 but they wanted too much, and it had 100k no the clock allready.

Vr4s are not rice fellas some are pretty fast, but u have 2 put an arm and leg, and maybe a kidney up to mod that thing. Even when I had the turbo car one handed me my ***!!!

Guys they really are not expensive to mod; they used to be as no one was producing things for them; now a lot of the 3si guys say f*ck it and starting making the parts themselves.
Like i said $3000 will get one into the 11's on the track AND on the street. $300 will put you in the mid to high twelves.
Of course their most impresive part is from a stop; from a highway roll even one that is running 12.6's alot of the times will loose to a fairly stock ls1 m6.
Once again anyone that is calling them rice is ignorant, just because its an import and not a v8 DOES NOT make a car rice; what was the camaro, mustang, corvettes putting out back in 1991 when the vr-4 was putting out 300hp?
