I saw this guy yesterday and he had a sweet looking 2004 saleen 281. I stopped next to him in my daily driver colorado at a red light and asked how much HP he was making. He said 465 rearwheel thru a KB blowzilla sc. I heard no SC sound at idle or when he was driving. what can these cars can do? where are they weak? from a roll? from a dead stop? etc. I told him I may see him around in the future with my z28 and would like to run with him. He said I would have no chance. I just laughed and said we will see.

I'm confused now, last friday a stock 03 saleen S281 was walked by a gt which only claimed mild bolt on. which was confirmed in the second race when it lost by a fender to a Z28. so do you guys think it was a driver error or that some are actually weak.

I am not sure if the 2003 Saleen S281 is a forged 4v motor like the 03-04 Cobra. I just read online that eh 03 Saleen S281 was rated at 425 flywheel HP. I know the one we are talking about has a Kenny Bell blower on it. I also know that the stock 4.6 2v bottom end can only hold 400HP. That is what I was told by a mustang performance shop.So not sure??

Too much misinfo here.
S281-Intake and exhaust GT. Slow.
SC281-GT with a roots blower. 365hp, dynos low, runs slow.
S281-E-Built motor, blower, superexpensive, 425hp, still not all that fast.

it's a 4.6 GT motor (non-forged) with a blower....

Was it the old SN95 platform or the new type (SN-98 AFAIK)?
The older gens S281 (for 281 cubes) was pretty slow. Its was only a few bolt ons as far as power goes. It did have some nice suspension bits though.
The old S-281E had a blower, it was decent, but I would bet on a stock Terminator.
I have no idea about the new ones, but they are not 2Vs sicne they dont even make 2Vs anymore. The new GTs are 3 valvers. The older ones were indeed 2Vs.
They are far to expensive for what you get. Like Vette level prices.

pakisho:thank you for clearing this hole argument up with that tid-bit of saleen info
the conclusion:saleens are not as fast as they should be for the money but look damn good
