SS vs FRC
hey guys. the other night me and my roommate finally raced. i have a 99 ss m6(mods in sig) and he has a mint 00 frc vette m6(stock). well we went from a 20mph roll in 1st gear and thru 2nd he was at my door. when we went into 3rd i started pulling til the top of third when we shut down. a great race, prolly the best one ive had. i could hear him shifting about 1.5/2 sec after i did in each gear. but all in all, it was a good race. thanx.

well the best i could get was a 13.6@106. it was the first time at the track for me. i couldnt hook up in 1st or 2nd. i have 285/40/17 BFG KDWS in the back and they suck on the track. they are great on the street, never have any traction issues, but on the track they suck! my boy in the FRC got a 13.3@108. he has 305/40/18 Nitto DR's in the rear.

hey what is the weight difference between my 99 ss w/ t-tops and his 00 frc vette? both full interiors. cause i thought once the aerodynamics kicked in on the vette he would have walked me. thanx.

I ran a Vette, C5, not sure the year but it was A4 and it pulled on me stronger than the GTO I ran that turned 12.8@109. The vette owner was a tool and wouldnt be straight about mods, he sounded stock, and eventually settled on a 3100 stall with tune. He pulled me 1 car from 55 to 80ish but on the top end he pulled harder than the GTO did (which would have pulled me 1-1.5 cars fro m65 to 95 had he not buggered a shift and we tied). Do you guys thing a stock A4 C5 would pull that hard??? He started pulling by me at around 70 mph.

it's hard to tell by street runs what they'd run in the 1320. From speculation if the vette pulled harder than a 12.8 car it probably had a few things done, at least more than he told you.

THe guy was a total tool imho. He first told me full bolt-ons, etc. etc. 400+ whp and when he saw i wasnt buying it, he said bone stock, then claimed stall and tune, bounced around a LOT but finally settled on stall/tune. Exhaust sounded bone stock.

well truthfully, you cant tell i have lt headers/y-pipe because i have it going through the stock catback. only when im at WOT can u tell then. but that vette is going to pull harder then the GTO when you get up in gears anyway just cause of the aerodynamics.

My buddy's 00 FRC M6 ran 13.1 @ 109mph with just an intake. This was at our local track which is 3000ft above sea level. As far as the weight goes, i think they around 3130 or so. I know they are not lighter than Z06's but they are pretty close.

P.S. Stock FRCs weigh 3174lbs. The Z06's are ligher due to a thinner windshield, lighter exhuast, and they do not have run-flat tires.

well we both have 3.42 gears. neither had traction issues. i have 285's on the back and he has 305's on the back(not run flats). and of course his aerodynamics are going to better than mine. also he is a very good driver, id put him in my car any day.
