ran a mustang gt....need answers
So my best friend traded in his lifted 98 tahoe for a vert 02 gt today. It is an m5 and bone stock. I have a 2000 SS, A4, slp dual/dual, slp lid, on bald tires. So after watching the UFC fight tonight (any fans?) we went out to cruise around. Eventually we lined up from a dig and I told him he could count from 3. He punched it about .5sec before me and dropped the clutch at around 4K(good tires)...I power braked to like 1600, that is all my shitty tires will hold. Well obviously he had about half a car on me right from the start. I slowly pulled on him through first and as I shifted into second I pulled like a foot in front of him. Through second I continued to slowly pull and at about 75mph he was about a car length behind me and we shut down.
I guess it is a kill, but does this sound right to yall? I really thought I would pull him harder than that...? Im kinda worried...should I be..
btw, I sea foamed my car last night and I am still using that gas, that wouldn't make a difference would it?

also i bet you have 2.73's (i hope you do because i do and my cousin just bought an '02 gt). if you had optional 3.23's you woulda really kicked his ***.

You should have pulled him a lot harder then that IMO...even if he has full bolt-ons. The GT being a vert adds a good amount of weight...and stock they only have 265 at the crank. But if you were burning 1-2nd then yea that sounds about right...spinning isn't winning.

I dont think headflow really matters that much. I flow 200cfm @ .550 and the LS1's get at least 255. Yet I have pulled an A4 LS1 from 75-105. Anywho, that DOES SOUND ODD for a STOCK mustang to pull that, especially a vert.
(Yes headflow matters, but so do other things).

lol....your car runs fine man...he got a big jump on him and by 75 you had pulled him down...and these cars really shine up high...the higher you wouldve went the worse it would have been for him...ive seen many gt's hang close through the 1/8th but after that its lights out for stock ones or just bolt on ones!!! good kill

yea your right, I have 3.23's and I spun pretty bad but I was still kinda disappointed. Next time we will go to at least 100, hopefully then I will be happier at the end of the run.
btw, thanks for all the input guys.

Well, thats what I was thinking...I am on this site like 24/7 and i have never read a race where an ls1(light modded) only pulled one car on a stock gt. Thats why am concerned.
btw, I just obdII scanned my car and I am throwing 3 codes right now. P0157, P0420, and P0137. I know that they have to do with the cats and rear O2 censors. Could this have effected my run??? I don't think so, since the rear O2's are only to verify the cats are working, but if I have a clogged or crappy cat, could that have something to do with the shitty race results...?

That definately doesnt sound right, i raced an 2000+ m5 gt with full exaust and pulled about 2 cars just to ~70 (from a roll it was even worse).
Probably because you spun,
even with your gears you shouldve done better.

?? Guys it was only to 75 mph. Thats less then a 1/8th mile run. he was caught sleeping and the GT got a good jump, and he ran him down and put a car on him at 75 I would think his car runs ok.. If it was only a car to say 95-100 and he got a good launch then i would think his car wasn't running right.
