Default 01 z28 Vs 02 ss

ok so i have a 01 z28 a4 and a buddy of mine that i work with has an m6 02 SS, everybody at the shop is talking **** that his car sinse its and ss would own mine nasty, and they dont believe auto's are better for drag.... so what do u think who would win in a quarter.he's a decent driver.. we are racing in a couple weeks once i install my tc.... i think i have a good chance of shutting everyone up

01 z28 a4
fuddle 3400 stall
bbk 80 mm tb
tb bypass
descreened maf
slp lid
slp coldair induction
k&n
smoothbellows
slp loudmouth II
firestone firehawks 295/35/18's in back...we have to use tires we have now
stock 2.73's

02 SS m6
centerforce dual friction clutch
steel flywheel
slp lid
slp maf
slp tb (i dont think they even make um anymore)
slp y pipe
slp loudmouth II
k&n
goodyear eagle 275/40/17's
stock 3.42's

im guessing i will run 12.6 or 12.7... im at 13.2 w/o 3400 stall..
and he is prolly low 13's but what do u guys think... ohh yeah the people i work with love to gamble so hopefully they all get pissed when he looses(if he does)

if your both on street tires drivers race, if he can drive it, he might get you. 3400 stall + street tires= very hard to launch.

stock 2.73's

Im guessing you wont.
Its a nice car you got there, but you have no real power adders besides the Intake/Exhaust.
The stall is definitly going to help, but i dont know if its going to be enough.

Stock Auto 2.73 cars dont clear much more than a 13.5, even the 01-02's.
You said 13.2 right?
Well ive seen stock 02' SS's M6's with the SLP package run under and around 13 sec. flat.
Given his few mods and Clutch, with 3.42's I dont think you will be able to trap as much as him. If you put on LT's with 3.73's you would already have him.
But thats another 800-$1000

Just my 02.
Race Him Anyway...
and Good Luck

Dude, run him.
Drop rear tire air down to 18#'s and go for it.
I think your car is a lot more capable then what you've been hearing.
Yes, almost any M6 ls-1 is a 12 second car.
Most driver's, however, are not skilled enough.

If he ran a 13.2 without the converter a 12.7 is not completely unrealistic. It Could happen.

Its all gonna be about the launch and his ability to drive an M6. If he makes on mistake your gonna beat him but its not gonna prove a Auto to be "better" for drag racing. Although its been debated a thousand times and auto's are better for consistant drag racing wich is what most people are looking to acomplish, manuals with=mods are always faster.

Um, yea it will, I know of a 00' Vert with 2.73's with a ~3400 stall/lid that ran a 12.7 on 18's.

I have 99 SS M6, and i think with a stall you should most definitely win. He's going to be very inconsistant. I think if he had some ET's on there at the track with a pretty damn good launch he might be able to run you down. But i would have my money on the Z28 with the stall all day long at the track. Your 60' is should dominate his. Only problem i see is that stall with street tires. GOOD LUCK, MAKE SURE YOU POST AN AFTER THREAD.

I'd say with the stall and a good launch you own him. If you can't hook, kiss him goodbye.

Lose 2.73's and get some drag radials and you'll stomp him in the 1320.
