Impressed by a fast EVO.
I was headed down a HWY with me and my brother with the camaro in the sig when a driver and passenger in an EVO tries to catch up to me. He pulls right next to me and gives me a rev and I rev back and then purge the nitrous. There was too many cars’ on the road at that time so we can’t race. I start to pull into the left turning lane I give a hand gesture to turn around to the driver to go in the other direction that leads to a hwy that is clear on both sides and he does. After we turn around he pulls right next to me and we both start to slow way down (due to cars were up ahead) to like 20 MPH we give three honk’s and then we both punch it at the same time. My Nitto 315's hook I run all the way through first and then I run through second gear, we both shut down due to the cars up ahead. It was kind of hard to tell since I was concentrating on driving but I pull about only two and a half cars on him! (with nitrous!) I give him thumbs up but he does nothing and just looks at me with a fake looking somewhat kind of smile. He made me think that maybe he didn’t like being beat or was still nervous of racing. He then makes another left turn and takes off. The passenger seemed cool though because my brother says he was pointing and nodding at us as we were pulling away. I wish he did not turn around and pull away because I would really like to know what he had.

AMS's shop EVO made 988awhp. They have stock displacement (2.0L) however the internals are compeltely forged. The stock EVO bottom end limit varies. People are making 550+whp on the stock motor but longetivity is really the question. Although, the one guy making 558 is still going and its been over a year.

Alright EVO's can be made pretty fast more trap speed that actual 1/4 mile performance even though most EVO owners will spew "We have AWD!!" Most people know that RWD is a much better drag platform.
The fastest EVO IIIX is AMS car which would cost over 30K to replicate it has run 9.41@156mph putting down 826whp. Now the car has 988whp and should trap 164mph ish, but the key is what E.T. The car is all over the place there is no such thing in a high HP AWD as "Dead Hook".
EVO's are great for all around cars. If you want a car that you can go autox, road course, and drag and be fairly competitive in all a EVO is worth looking at.
You can hit 11's with bolts ons under 3K trap 115mph+ and still kick butt on the roadcourse and autox. It's when you try to turn these cars into drag cars that all of the tranny, TC, axle, diff problems start to arise.
You LS1 guys don't have anything to worry about and the guys that are really into drag aren't!
