Is there any kind of warranty on his work? If so, I would be using it. That also sounds very pricy to me. I payed $1500 for a rear end in a Jeep and I know that the only thing that was not new was the housing. all new gears, axles, and carrier.

You should have bought a 12 bolt or a 9'' for that kind of cash.

I don't know about a rip off, I've never had rear end work done on my car but you should put your foot right up his a$$ for driving your car that way! I know the Mr. Transmission where I live has been taken to court so many times for ripping people off the Air Force base put it on it's blacklist, so were not even allowed to take cars there. And it does seem pretty pricey to me, there is 2 reasons you should go back and put a beating on him! (or take him to court, probably a better route!)

This is why I dont let anybody work on my car . I'd be pissed if I saw someone doing burnouts in my car when they are supposed to be fixing it. Makes me angry just thinking about it. For ~2300 you can buy a brand new 9", so I think that is kind of high.

I recently had a service performed on the Viper....24 mile test ride was done afterwords.......after an oil change....I documented it, and am reviewing legal implications. I am not leaving my car for service again, and if I do, I will wirte in the work order that I am to be called after the work is completed and before and "test rides" are performed. There was no rubber sprayed under the car. But 24 miles...hell I should charge them for 2 gallons of gas also.

$2000.00 for a stock rear??? As far as him laying rubber, maybe he was trying to make sure it would not blow again...

Hmmmm....24 undocumented, unsupervised miles in a Viper....Hmmmm....I wonder what was going on there. You know they were giving that thing hell man, I would be pissed ROYALY and damn strait I would be looking at some kind of legal implications.

My buddys '01 WS6 went in for an oil change. They never called to say it was ready, so 3 hours later he goes to check on it. It's parked outside and reaking of burnt clutch. Gets in it and sure enough the clutch is F.U.B.A.R. He had to threaten legal action before they finaly fessed up. I'm sorry, it might just be Quicky-Lube or whatever but I would expect a little more professionalism.

Although I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted by the Viper

Yea, unfortuneatley I am finding most work orders you sign before the begin the work have some legal mubo jumbo on the back that basically says the can perform needed testing. But what the hell do you need to test after and oil change??? I am pretty pissed.

even if they did need to test your car 24 miles is 23 miles more than they needed to test after an oil change! All of my oil changes on my car did'nt reqiure a test drive!

call a lawyer! teach em a lesson!

A local Typhoon guy got his Ty back with an extra 60 miles on it. When he confronted them with it they just said they were having a hard time diagnosing the problem.

holy crap. You need to get a lawyer. That work is fraud, period.

edit: You need to call the better business beareau. I woudn't put up with crooks!

Not even a new rear is total bs for $2000.

Yes, joy riding is horse **** if they are working on your car. I would have them fired, period.

I come to get the car serviced, not for some monkey boy to joy ride in it. I have no forgiveness for bs.

It's a professional job. I would take it to the top of management. They wouldn't be working their anymore.

My mother was getting her car serviced about 10 years ago. When she got it back, she strated up the car and the radio was so loud in the car, that it scared her when she started it up.

She was pissed, went back inside explained to management that he was too busy listening to the radio instead of fixing the problem. The manager said that sometimes, the service men listen to the radio while they are working. She told them bs, I"m here to get the car fixed and you are here to service it, not to listen to the radio. And on top of that, the radio was turned nearly all the way to full volume.

She said that's fine, put a call to chevy headquarters and explained to them what happend. After she told her what the manager said to them. They fired the manager and the service tech. They sided with her saying that they are there to work, not listen to the radio lesurely. That's what the shop radio is for, it's not their vehicle.
