Default Mustang Kill

Hey Guys, new to these forums, but been reading for a while. figured I'd post a recent kill

This is less of a race than it is a reality check for some idiot driver. I'm driving back from work a couple weeks ago and I'm in the middle lane stuck in a patch of slower moving traffic. There is a Mustang GT 99-04 in the left lane that jumps over into my lane, cutting me off. I think, "Fine, whatever. This is Houston....) there is a slower moving vehicle a little ahead of us and the Mustang driver paces it just right so he can pass the slower vehicle and I can't because of a car in the left lane going a little faster. Now I'm thinking, "Is this guy messing with me?" My passenger laughs and says "What the hell is that guy thinking?"

I just stick in the middle lane for a while and the slower moving vehicle moves over and I speed back up to where I was at before. Mustang GT is in the left lane again as I come up, he gets over in front of me again and he gets the opportunity to once again keep me from passing a slower moving car in front of us. Now I smile because I see traffic is pretty much wide open as we pass under beltway 8. It's on, MF!

I get around the slower moving vehice much sooner this time and I'm creeping up on the GT hoping he'll line up and go for a quick run and take his spanking like a man. I'm about a car length back from him and he punches it. In no hurry, I give him a few car lengths lead as I downshift into second at around 60 MPH and floor it. I tell my buddy that I'm gonna eat this guy's lunch. He just grins and says "do it!" He's a gear head, too and doesn't mind racing one bit, lol

I blow past this guy a few seconds later and then slow down allowing him to catch up as he is still in it. As he goes by, he's giving me this hard *** look while attempting the fly by and as soon as he gets a car length on me, I hit it again, pass him with my passenger giving him the finger and laughing at him and then proceed to put about 5 car lengths on him and then shut it down. I slow down, seeing if he wants to try again, but he won't bite and gives up at this point and takes the next exit.

Perfectly executed flyby kill, 10 points for the finger to the tough guy. Lol I usually give a thumbs up but cool guys like that deserve a different finger.

Yes my GT is slower than most cars on this website. I still love driving it. Good kill though. I play around with willing 'vette owners . I know I will get owned and it doesn't bother me. I will give the thumbs up win or lose unless someone gives me a pissy attitude. Then they get

I just read yor other post where you were talking about that. Damn, man, I feel for you!

I hate to say it, but you could have bought my 01 cobra from me for the 14k you spent in mods, and gone mid 13's... Then taken the money you used to buy the GT and put in gears, 4 cams and Nitrous and gone low 11's!

Lol, car will be fixed soon and should be low 13's@103 all day. But I am milking this for the next week and a half until I get a carb that will open all 4 barrels

1k? good deal! I'll take 2 88 GT's at that price!

As clean as your car looks, I was thinking more like 4K. That should cover parts with a do it yourself install.

Wow I only paid 10k for my 2001 z28 with 30k miles cause it had been stolen; who knows if thats the real odometer reading but it runs strong, never any trouble beating cars I should. Damn accident almost cost as much to repair the thing as it did to buy it.

meh i have no problems with GT's either. they can look good, they sound very good and they CAN be quite fast if done right. GT owners just get a bad name. why? they're the cheapest V8 sports cars you can get. every punk high school kid that wants to go fast can afford one and those know-it-all know-nothings think it's the fastest car on the road and drive like it like it is. they give a bad name to all the cooler GT owners out there.

I have a serious problem. The back two barrels of the carburetor are not opening. I am running on HALF of a 670cfm carb, lol, BIG ISSUE. Anyways, yeah, thats 1K with **** paint though, dent free and perfect interior (for the age)

On the other hand, I think the GT owners that lost respect from the gearhead community are the yuppies/non-enthusiasts that want a Mustang because they're cool and trendy. And they decide to buy the GT, not because they want to go fast, but because they can afford it and they'd get 'respect' from people like us.

I think a true gearhead is respactable at any age (but I'm only 18, so I'm very biased.)

And for what it's worth I bought my Trans Am For $9,000. That's cheaper than any Mustang GT in the area that I actually wanted to drive and had under 50k miles. But I waited long, and looked harder for the perfect second car.

And I still love Mustangs, I almost got one. But I like being slightly out of touch with the mainstream. And the horsepower advantage sealed the deal.
