Especially a car that's pretty quick from factory. Though they aren't my type of car, I have tremendous respect for those I4 powerhouses.

Thats an insane amount of power for a factory V8 block to hold!

Not to mention, they don't even know how much HP that car is making, the dyno was maxed out

Well, I personally would never want to own an EVO myself, but I will most certainly agree with you that they get their respect...

I'm really glad that Japan is producing cars such as these, as it makes the rivalry (Domestic vs Import) that much more intense. I'm tired of racing Mustang after Mustang at the track, and Supra's are a dime a dozen. When an EVO/STI pulls up to stage, your never quite sure what is done to it, and that is what I like most about them. It's a killer rush, especially after handing it it's ***....

and the Charger+Mustang would get *destroyed* at by the STi).
The STI wouldn't destroy an SRT-8 or GT500 in anything. Those cars make the STi look like a piece of ****. Get over yourself and your stupid ricer that you think is god.

Stock for stock, they even trap as high as stock LS1's out there.
No, they don't. They don't put down anything close to the power that LS1's put out at the wheels. Racing an Evo or STI from a roll in an LS1 is a joke, its not even a race. The LS1 will dominate. The Evo and STI can keep up from a dig because they have AWD, but with a good launch, the LS1 will still walk either of them no problem.

I think you get a rush racing them because it is more embarassing if you lose to one. If you lose to a Mustang or Supra it is more respectable because those cars are respectable.

All the cars mentioned run about the same 1/4 mile with the exception of the GT500, which runs a high 12 according to Road & Track. The EVO, STi, SRT8 Charger, and the last year of the Camaro run in the low to mid 13's stock.

The only reason they Evo and STi run low 13's is because they can launch hard. Without a clutch drop at 4-5K RPM, they run high 13's or low 14's. They don't have the power to actually back up those times, hence the reason they only trap at 102-103MPH.

How many STI's or Evo's have you actually ran?

You know I love my car, and I think the LS1 is a kickass motor and I love owning one, but come on. If this were a Supra guy you would talk about how they can't run from a dig, if they ran a LS1 from a dig, they would get destroyed, but since its an AWD car, then you say it can't run with a LS1 from a roll.

If you have something against imports, I understand, but you can't negate how good these cars perform.

Well, yes and no, honestly. It'd be more embarrassing to me, personally, if I ever lost to an EVO/STI. But the rush mainly comes into play when we stage. I have about fifty to seventy five teenagers screaming their heads off in the stands, assuming the EVO is going rip me a new one. It'll have me pause for a second, go over all of my mods in my head, hesitate, feel an extreme rush of simply not knowing what the outcome will be (which is what racing is all about, in my book)...

Well, I bought mine since I couldn't have two cars anymore (the LS1 and the Buick), yet I still needed a car that could get me around in the snow. The STi does that a lot better than the Camaro ever would have. I also have have been having a lot of fun with the car in autox and am learning how to do road racing, something my Camaro (and the Charger+Mustang would get *destroyed* at by the STi).

And FWIW, the EVO IX, with 1000 dollars in mods will run consistent 11's @ 114~. Don't underestimate them, they are a huge improvement over the STi/EVO IIX in the ability to mod them. Stock for stock, they even trap as high as stock LS1's out there.
you still have to remember a stock ls1 with a wet shot $500 will run 11's at 120 plus

I see, so actually running a good time and MPH in the 1/4 doesn't back up a cars numbers

As far as the 4k clutch drop, I'm not sure why that's relevant. I don't know anyone (AWD, RWD, FWD) that leaves the line at the strip at idle.

Let's keep this to the other thread guys.

Thread starter, sorry about the thread lock.

Domestic Demon, stop trolling. Talk **** in the other thread if you want, but don't start up this crap in other STI/Evo threads.

Consider this your warning.
