Nice race but yea if those are his only mods I cant see him beating you, especially in 3rd gear. My good friend's 02 gt with LT's, 3.73's, CAI, flowmasters, and a tune couldnt beat my z28 when I only had a catback and he was an m5 and im an m6. It would be fairly close from 0-70 with me only gaining maybe a car or so but once we hit 70 mph it was all over and i would steadily walk him as the speeds increased. Def get your car tuned up though and work on your shifting as you should be taking the car to 6K rpms when racing.

Pretty much the same for me when I had the LS1. I beat my buddies full exhaust, 4.10, intake plenum and a tune when I had only a lid and catback. He got a car on me on launch then I just pulled right by him by 80 and got about 2 cars by 100.

Take out your floor mats. Change your air filter and your oil. Try again. Its ok to loose as long as you have fun.

That is cause they have the same T-56 trans that the LS1 and LT1's came with. Not to mention that 1st and 2nd are about torque really. We do have decent torque numbers. 3rd gear and up are all about hp. That is where your cars really come into their own. If Ford had put the 3V motors in the New Edge SN95 then it would have been much more of a contest for the LS1, seeing as the heavier less streamlined S197 are keeping up.

I think it has more to do with loosing to a car that doesnt have the mods to keep up.

Perhaps he had a full suspension or something. I dunno Ive never had a problem beating 2V mustangs, even S/Ced ones. The Cobra on the other hand is a different story.

the problem is that every ls1 is not fast my 98 ss only ran 13 90s and the ones at the track friday were running 13 77s . that stang could have just been a factory freak or the ls1 just slow. who knows.im not a 2v fan but im glad it got the kill.

You will learn your car with some practice. The first few passes with my Z28 were high 13's. With a bit of launching and shifting practice, I got it down to low 13's. A few free mods and more practice got me 12's.

Good for you, and if we were talking about a Mach it would be a different story as Mach's are on par stock with stock ls1 f-bodies, but a GT with those mods wouldnt be making more than 250 rwhp as most dyno 225 rwhp or so stock, so how should a heavier car, with about 50 less rwhp, beat an f-body? True anything can happen on the street but thats like me posting a kill on a new c6 z06 or a srt-10 viper, sure I might come out on top but I would have beat the driver and not the car, and thats all that people are saying. Not ragging on GT's, but it doesnt add up why he would pull on him in 3rd gear with those mods.

I was driving a mustang before this.. I like Fords I wasn't bashing mustangs at all. He doesnt have suspension or Nitrous or anything. I know what mods he has. I'm gonna set up another race in a few days. It also might help to know that I raced him like 6-7 times..and won a lot of them but he said we weren't starting at the same time, etc etc. The one race he won was fairly even, he probably started a half second before I did.

Must be a tough track to hook on or they dont know how to drive because the bolt on ls1's around here run low 13's high 12's with DR's. Also im not brand loyal, id be arguing the same thing if a modded 03-04 blown cobra or modded Mach I got pulled on by a stock f-body. The more powerful car lost but hey a win is a win.

Every time I'm at the track there is a 2004 Mach 1 with a 100 shot and full bolt-ons that cant break into the 12's with DRs...does that mean his car is slow or that I should base my Mach statements on him only? GTs are not on par with LS1s plain and simple (pre 2005). The only thing that has been said here is that with those mods on the GT, this is near the average outcome.
