too close to tell. seems like a perfectly even match, although i doubt the 150mph thing...
Agreed. Its seems like a drivers race.

some guys here def full of ****. ive pulled away from 350z and 05+ stang gt when i had my 2005 GXP.

i have a video posted somewhere of me doing a top speed run and my car when it got to around 140 mph was Struggeling to continue to gain momentum. though they are regulated by temperature..

a 350z or a mustang GT Might be able to hit 150 mph but it will take them FOREVER to get their.

and to the LT1 guy...... dont kid yourself an LT1 has negative topend power lol. you aint gonna get to 120 mph easily rofl.

idk what the top speed is on a gt or a 350z - although i could find out on the 350z as my sisters is still 100% stock. and im doubting a 350z would hit 150 but i have gone 130+ in my sisters... took forever to get there though felt like i was draggin a few cars in my ls1. i have also raced stock o5/06 gt's and i think the 350z puts up more of a fight to stock ls1's then then mustang gt's. as for top speed on ls1's im pretty sure there are a few different top speeds due to factory equiped tires etc. (i think 168? was the top one. m6 of course )

a 350z wont give an ls1 a fight lol.

one note i had my stock TA vert go to 155 and i was still gaining speed. im pretty sure it would have made it to 160+ giving another 1/4

I ran a guy on this site, his had a TT kit though. His car ran well, pretty much dead even with my cam/bolt-on SS. I guess for something that is supposed to have "decent acceleration" from the factory I kinda expected more. I mean I know guy's with stang GT's running mid 11's@120+ on regular old Vortechs and bolt-ons. I think a stock 350Z is VERY close to a 99+ Mustang GT, both can run 13.60-13.70@101-102 with GREAT drivers stock. But when it comes to bolt-on mods the V8 stang responds better and will beat a modded 350Z.

Here is a good clip of some boosted 350z's, gives you an idea, lol.

there are 11 second bolt-on 99+ GT's, Im not sure you have a clue what your talking about. But from my PERSONAL expierience in my buds 01 and 02 GT's, one ran 13.30's with nothing but 4.10's and tires. The other ran 13.4 with nothing but flows and an x-pipe, both on nittos. My 98 has a 2001GT motor and a few bolt ons and does 13.10@104. Just gotta be able to drive

Either that or not consider weight reduction a mod

It doesnt take long at all n/a to reach 150. Like I've said before the 350z has better gearing than the mustang gt. Hell its only a 5speed compared to a 6. The top speed of the 350z is goverend at 159, trust me I've hit it plenty of times. Thats why as speeds increased, he was able to pull on the gt.

My buddy has a 350z and I have been 150 in his car. So with a passenger and a 200lbs sound system his car his 150. This race sounds legit to me. I would also question the driving abilities of the GT owner because from a dig I would expect him to win given that he has more tq.

True, but still thats impressive doing that with that 2V motor NA. Here is a link to a 10 second 2V car, NA too....

My full weight 98 GT with a 99+ Motor and a few bolt-ons does 13.20's@104+ all day, on any kind of tire it would do 12's with ease.

LS1's top out at 158mph stock, and have roughly 60-70whp more then a Mustang GT, on top of being better geared and more aerodynamic.

Anyways, sounds like a fun night. I'd expect the Mustang GT to win the 1/4 mile race more often then not, but the Z to have unquestionably better cornering abilities, and a better top end.
99-04 GT's are capable of hitting 150 stock, it just takes a while. I have a stock '02 GT auto conv. and I've hit 140 a few times. Down here in the Savannah area there are a few places where you can stretch your cars legs. A couple of months ago on I-95 I floored at around 65-70mph to see how much faster I could go past 140. She only stopped accelerating around the 141-143 mark because of the speed limiter they put on our autos. I have no doubt a 5-speed 99-04 GT can hit 150+. I remember one owner say he had the needle pegged past the 150 mark in his stock GT.

ON the new GT's I think I remember reading somewhere that they're aero limited to 147 or something so I can see a 350Z getting the new GT at 140+ speeds because they're geared to go faster.

My thoughts exactly. My 25th T/A with CAI and a cutout went to 135 with ease.

Are you serious?? My Automatic 3:23 car tapped 150mph... It was pulling good right up to about 130mph when it fell off ... getting the final 10mph out of it took a while..but 120mph was EASY.
