so i was driving home to get a good nights sleep when i drove past "the lot" (a place where all the ricers meet) when i saw a yellow cobra, so i decided to pull in and see if i knew anybody.... i knew a few kids from school and one kid i didnt know asked me to race the cobra so i said "i never turn down a race" thinking that he owns it...but it isnt.....

so me and the kid in the cobra bs for a bit (i could have sworn he said a 98 but i thought 98 was a diff. style then the 93-97... so he may have said 97 and i misheard) and every body says he is bone stock, and when i ask him he says just exaust.. but whatever.... so we drive out to a backroad where they "always race"... this road was shitty, barely enough room for 2 cars and would be very dangerouse for a side by side race, so we line up and he did a little burn out to warm up the tires..the "lot" girls cheered him on.. and said to me your "goin down" so i light them up McNasty stlye and they all shut up and start talkin that ill will....

well to get to the point we line up and i instantly pull 2 cars on him and countinue to pull to 5 cars.. keep in mind this is a backstreet and is nowhere near a 1/4 mile... so when i go back to where everybody was a few kids say "damn you lost me 20 bucks" and the kid challenges me to a re-race.. so i gladly accept....the second race had the same results..... so at the end of the night i left 50 bucks of rubber on the road, burnt up a 1/4 tank of gas and lost a few hours sleep but i shut up a bunch of **** talkers around "the lot" and that was well worth it..... ive come to realize the only fast bolton cobras are the 03-04........

that was the first cobra i raced and im glad with the outcome

Nice kill! one of the cars i just don't like (besides ricers) is the mustang. and i love taken them down! i've tried to race many cobras before (highway) but no response. Even raced a saleen once too!

ya theres a place like that here and just about the same thing happend to me, and when the guy asked what i had done i told him "just exhaust" and you should have seen the look on his face, it was priceless haaha

You shouldn't be all that surprised...you should beat any year cobra except 03/04, then it depends on your mods.

If you run into an 03, you might want to just play it cool.

Good kill on the kid. 94-98 cobras were the same body style with 94-95 still being the 302 motor. You'll also come to realize that there are fast bolt-on cobras that aren't 03-04. Just not as plentiful as the 03-04 ones. I'm sure my 98 would hold it's own in a battle against you. -Mark

don't worry, i make not like stangs but i can tell what kind, and what year model, i know alot about any of the stangs. There's a gt in my neighborhood and the guy stuck svt cobra badges on it. but there's also a 03 cobra out here too!

just a few boltons.... slp loudmouth II, slp air induction kit, slp lid, bbk throttlebody and some free mods....... i was going to do headers and 3600 stall next but i have a wheel bearing going out and thats giving me an excuse for a 12 bolt ... then ill do headers and stall

there are a few 11 sec 03-04 cobras cruisin around town.....

nice kill man, but dont get too cocky, the 96-98 cobras are low 14 sec cars stock, high 13 with good driver mod....

What's you point? Your new LS1 Fbod is a low 13 sec car, high 12 with good driver mod.

We have nothing to fear from a 96-98 Cobra. When my car was stock and I would miss a gear and shut it down early I'd still run 13.7-13.9 so it's pretty hard to lose to a stock 96-98 Cobra.

Just so no one feels compelled to say it, 03-04's are a different story.

damn, yall are bringing out the ex-cobra owner in me.

My 2001 ran 13.4@106.9 with exhaust and CAI. There are a few strong ones out there.

I was about 50/50 when racing Ls1's. Amazing how on the intarweb Ls1's are all low 13 and high 12 sec cars....

Now I have to start my treatments again.

If I had a dime for everytime someone said that I'd be rich. Aren't LS1's compression over 10:1? Go ahead and put a blower on it and when it ***** a rod out the side of the block you'll wonder how can cobras do it. You can't just "throw" a blower on it. You have to lower compression, and with the ls1's hypereutectic pistons I'm sure it would last with 10lbs of boost. lol. And even if you did throw it on there with that compression you'd better be running some higher octane than 93 or else retard your timing ALOT! So a good set of rods and pistons will be mandatory if you want a blown car off the production lines.

Well they should. Make 5.4L S/C DOHC motors standard in Ford and 5.7L S/C LS1's in Chevy. Then everybody could stop bitching about who does and does not have a supercharger. Who has a bigger engine..blah,blah....It still boils down to power/lb........and the ease to extract power.
Who cares anymore. Kenne Bells for everybody, now shut up. Not you personally......


Actually with 4.6L from the engine alone and 1.4 or 1.6L from the Eaton crap bucket you are at 6.0-6.2Liters...FYI............Here we go!!!!!!!!!
