from a roll
I'm not that big on drag racing as you can tell, however, i'm not scared to break my rear end, i just hate downtime and setbacks, which makes everyday life very inefficient. Also, there is no point in going out a breaking rear ends and other suspension parts all the time if you're not going to make any money off of it... Why risk breaking a rear end running some egotistical youngster on a high-horse for free just to determine who's superior and coming out of pocket $2k....Roll racing is easier on the parts, which is why i prefer it. You should just respect my opinion and get over it... Besides, arguing about this isn't going to prove or resolve anything because it's a loaded subject and each has their own opinion, therefore, there is no right or wrong answer....Some like drag racing and some like roll racing, I just happen to fall into the roll racing category...
With all that said, if he's got a head/cam/exhaust C5 theres no doubt that he can go 191 mph. JMO

Sorry for the run on , but I suck at launching because I get all excited.
Better tires and more practice will helpYeah, I had to prod you a little bit!
I like the analogy first time with a girl...
Launching from a dig on the street is damn sure a hit or miss depending on the conditions and the pavement. You definitely had a much better launch on the last race with Fadi...that first one you did had me rolling on the floor...I could just see you losing your load early on that one! Any more good runs lately?? I'm setting up a couple so I don't have to race shitbox ricers f'ing with me on the highway...it just wastes gas. Oh, and I got the nitrous in the mail today, so I'll be spraying in a couple weeks...talk about traction woes then!

im stock geared (3.42s) with a 7k rpm redline and H/C/I on my C5 coupe, there have been many people breaking the 190mph barrier with the same setup.....alln_c5 is one of many....
The only problem is that at those speeds, lot of air builds up underneathe the front end of the car and can actually lift the front end off the ground. Some guys actually install winglets and a rear wing to help keep the car planted at high speeds.
1) Dig races break parts. I don't want to be running someone and break something in the middle of the road. "Hi officer, for some reason the rear-end of my car just shattered while I was sitting here in the middle of the road. It was the craziest thing..."
2) High horsepower cars have traction problems, and I don't care how good a driver you are, losing traction is not easy to go through. Slicks? Race at the track. Street racing is for street cars.
3) Roll racing shows the faster car. I don't care what you guys say, a roll race from different speeds will show what car is truely faster.
4) Its not easy to stop in the street and do a dig race.
I love a dig as much as anybody, buts its not practical.
Smart guy.
I say be willing to do both. If you have too much power and too little tire, most should understand and go from a roll. In those instances where guys LIVE from a dig...Evo's and such, they want to run ONLY from a dig. Just be willing for both. The last EVo I ran across, he was saying from a dig over and over b/c we had run from a roll 3-4 times already and Im suprised he had paint on the side I was on but I agreed to run from a dig. We went from a dig and he had a foot on me until 2nd, then same story as the other races. I was WILLING to loose though but I told him....YOU BETTER STAY ON IT UNTIL 3RD.........dont ***** out and let of a few cars up and as soon as you hear me comming. 600+ hp cars are tough to even get traction from 2nd rolls.

So alot of people spend a fortune to make there car fast from a roll and not put the supporting mods to there rear suspension to actually have a real drag race where the driver is the best mod you can have .

Roll races only concern power, aerodynamics and to a much lesser extent weight and gearing. Suspension is totally irrelevant 99% of the time. Weight does not really mean much after 3rd.
Roll racing is cool and all, but I dont see how it shows which car is honestly faster at all. IMHO it shows that far less than a dig race. In a roll race you might have a car thats no faster than its competitor winning by quite a margin because the roll was from that cars sweet spot. And when I think of truly fast, I think of a car and drivers overall performance. To me, racing should be a contest of driver and machine. Otherwise we are all spectators.
I can understand not wanting to break parts. But thats racing. We dont do this because its cheap and easy. Go look at the road course guys. now thats breakage.
And legally, the only street racing Im interested in personally is dig races out in the country. For some thats not possible, and that sucks, but Im not too keen on running around heavily used public roads.

That being said I too prefer to race from a stop. My favorite is at a red light not in the middle of a highway.
