Default finally a 04 cobra!!!

i was hanging at the local spot tonight when my buddy asked me if i wanted to race his friends 04 cobra. i asked what he had done to it and he said just intake and catback. i said sure why not, ive never raced a 03/04 cobra before and i just wanted to see what i could do. i had my cutouts open so when i started the car, he immediatly asked what i had and made me pop my hood, like i would lie to him. i said, just intake and longtubes with dual cutouts. he thought i had a cam, it lopes when its cold outside. so we were debating on where to run from. i said a dig and he said he didnt want to because of his street tires on it, i said then fine how bout a 30mph roll, he said sure. we go out and find a nice open road and honk 3 times and punch it, i instantly pull on him and by the time i get out of 3rd i was prolly 3 cars ahead. he pulls up and says he messed up so we go again but this time i go all the way to the top of 4th and still have multiple cars on him. he comes back and says he cant shift it right, so his friend jumps in the car. he honks 3 times and same results. it was awesome. i was very happy with how my car ran. so at the end of the night, i had a 3-0 victory on them. i luved it! sorry for being so long.

well i put over 350 to the wheels with my cutouts closed. and my cutouts are directly behind the headers. i dont know what i put down with them open. on avg. an ls1 gains 13-18 whp from a cutout, so who knows. just got to get it dynoed. even when we he was in his powerband, i was still pulling him.

Dude..If you think your car really has 350 RWHP with only intake headers and cut outs ...Well more power to ya. And congradulations cas you got a strong one.

Umm i dynoed when my car was stock with just a lid, slp loudmouth, no cats , 160 thermostat, and this is my dyno sheet with out he spray and i was on 315s in the rear and no cutouts on old rear ! so It is very possible since he has longtubes and i did this on stock headers and stock everything

nice kill, but i think it was driver error. those 03-04 cobras are NOT that slow. i can see it very close race but only with headers/lid plus those heavy 315/35/17 will not put you in 352 rwhp.. i call bs on DYNO #.. goto different place and dyno again.

hahahah.. 160 termostat doesnt give you ANY net HP~!! with those mods. im thinking 320rwhp top~! i think tuner fucked it up.. dyno sheet dont mean nothing; take it to the track and see what times you put up..

who the fu#k are you to me for me to even care if you bs my dyno numbers or not? you pay for my dyno time and ill redyno it, if you dont want to then go bs someone elses thread. the guy who owned the car couldnt drive worth ****, he told me. thats why he had his friend drive for the other races. and i still beat him. i dont see why you call bs when most stock ls1's put 305-315 stock. with longtubes/intake/and dual cutouts with a tune, i dont see why its hard to believe i would gain 35-45 hp from that. i have no reason to lie either so, guess its whatever.

350 rwhp in an ls1 > 360 rwhp in an 03/04 cobra.

intake + catback on a cobra won't gain a whole hell of a lot. we'll assume ~340 rwhp stock for the cobra, no? the f-bod is considerably lighter. you'll notice a lot of ls1 f-bods with "inferior" dyno numbers competing with larger dyno number cobras.

as for the driver mod; i raced a yellow 03 term at the track, it was modded, they wouldn't tell me exactly what...obviously had no cats, cai, and i'm guessing a pulley. the driver only managed a 13.5 @ 108 to my 12.3 @ 110. of course i was spraying .

I disagree. An intake and a catback on an otherwise stock Cobra
helps significantly and can put out numbers in the 410-420rwhp
range.

Not necessarily.

Cobra coupes weigh 3,665lbs in stock trim. Plenty of fbodies
are equally as heavy. My '00 Z28 was real close to being a
stripper so it weighed in at 3,450lbs. The 200lb difference is
good for about 2 tenths...nothing special IMO.

That's true when you're talking about lightly modified or stock cars.
I feel that it takes 50rwhp more in a lightly modded Cobra to run with
a LS1.

With similiar mods, I went 11.20's in mine.

LastLT1 - Nice kill!

Thats a heavy stripper there. My 00 trans am weighs 3480 with added weight.

i was unaware that simply bolting on those parts would yield such results. are accounting for a tune, also?

you're comparing your car to a HEAVY stripper.. my ALL OPTION z28 weighed 3,480 bone stock with a full tank of gas. my buddy's STOCK b4c car weighed 3,380 BONE STOCK, and another buddy that had a 99 1sc stripper car weighed 3,280 BONE STOCK. we weighed the cars at the same time and place, all bone stock with full tanks of gas. nothing in the car except what it came from the factory with.

Buddy in Washington state dynoed 348 rwhp with Mac Mids, Catted Y-pipe, SLP Loudmouth and a lid with 315 tires. '99 Z28 M6. That is very possible.

I just noticed, you said you weighed in at 3480 but then I read your sig and it says you weighed in at 3680. Is the 3680 with you in the car?

NO..that is without a tune. Tunes aren't needed on cobra's for CAI and Catback. Midpipe maybe, but not CAI and catback. I noticed you listed cobra at 360 RWHP......that 360 is what the low avg of a stock cobra will put down. THe lowest I have ever heard of is 356. Most are ~370. You also must remember that FI loves cold air. CAI on a cobra is a good 25-35 RWHP mod. SO a catback/CAI cobra should be in at ~400 RWHP.

NIce kill to the OP. Seems like his 'friend' could drive either.....but it is run what you brung, and he left the driver mod at home.
