Need some shifting tips!!
Need some shifting tips!! From a 40 mph roll, should I do 2nd =>3rd=>4th or 3rd =>4th? Peak hp is like 5800 - 6200 rpms. Not sure if brief lugging in 3rd is worse than the 2nd to 3rd shift. Input is appreciated. I am doing the Road Atlanta thing next weekend, and I want to get all the speed I can on the back stretch. So I will be exiting a turn at ~40 mph.

I shift out of 1st round 39-42 and outta 2nd 59-63, I'm also sitting stock 3.42s. If you got 4.10s leave yourself a good 13mph or more before the end of the gear you wanna be in to make shifting time worth it. I dont know if what I just typed made sense but it does in my head lol.
I've done 40 MPH rolls starting in 1st gear...2nd gear would be a good option too. I would definitely not start out in 3rd. You want to be in the meat of your powerband when starting out so your opponent doesn't get the advantage. It is hard to make up ground on a car that jumps out in front of you right away.

Meents is correct. Had a stalled auto 2.73 Camaro (buddy of mine) jump out on me AND to make things worse, missed 3rd twice. Caught him at around 100 or so though,

Also, if you are downshifting to 1st or 2nd, make sure you rev up to match the RPM given your speed, this is how pushrods bend. I usually just punch it up to about 4500rpm or so and feather the clutch to match, honk and get after it. Always a safe bet matching your revs. Good luck!
