Btw what kind of tires you have? What kind of cam and heads? How much power are you putting down? And what times did you run at the track?

I just remembered that I saw an E55 at the track a few years back with paper tags on that ran 11.9X. Not sure if it was stock, it could've had some kind of chip or w/e, but I was very impressed with that car, which appeared to look bone stock!!!

Your going to laugh at me for this one...I probably have the most shitty tires the Camaro has ever come to know. I am running Federal Streets on the rear (275/17) I am trying to locate some Nitto's before all this goes down but most places have to order them. Kinda sucks. I am running Trick Flow Heads and a MS4 cam. I also run a 100 over 100 shot but am trying to stay off the spray. I think one of my injectors is about to **** out on me. The best time I have ever run was a 12.00 in 80 degree weather with these same tires. 60 foots were horrible...I mean horrible. I should of broke easily into the 11's with all the mods done to my car. (all motor) Haven't had fun with the new spray set up yet. But lets hope this guy doesn't back out...should make for some good viewing...Track opens in a few weeks here so I will be able to get some new times and will have them posted. Wish me luck guys...I hope I don't disappoint the LS1 community.

Several E55's have gone high-11's at around 117-118mph either bone stock or with a set of PS2's on them (which seem to hook better than the stock Conti's). However, most usually go low-mid 12's in the 114-115mph range.

I would think a H/C LS1 with a convertor shouldn't have much problem with one, even without spray. And while they hook pretty well, on the street, it's entirely possible that with ESP off, he'll blow the tires off through 2nd gear. With ESP on, it might engage enough to substantially hurt him on the launch.

A Kleemann or Renntech modded car might, however, be different.

You do realize they are racing up to 140mph right?

IF he chooses to race all motor, he's gonna have to whoop the E55 by a few cars in the 1/4 so he can hold off the E55's charge because his 4L60 is gonna be at a disadvantage from 120-140 against the E55.

Irregardless, this soap-box racing is junk . . . I wanna see the video

Those tires are going to hurt you man! You either have to get DR's before the race or spay his ***!!! There is no way you're going to win any other way.

You're making enough power, but you won't be able to put it down and then at higher speed you either have to have a few cars on him or spray...

Well, the Nitto's are on their way. Race has been postponed for a few days to allow for delivery of the tires. Anyways, enough with the talk and on with the race! I will post the vid when all is said and over. I could just tell him lets race to 165 m.ph. That way I am ensured a win. Those cars are governed at 155. But I can't be that cruel...but then again what he doesn't know can't hurt him!

It just won't be fair to race him to those speeds if he can't run that fast.

Just get those tires on, warm them up before the race, launch well on him and keep that distance! If he starts to catch up make sure the bottle is ready and spray his ***!!!!

For what its worth, the one I saw at the track ran a high 12. HE trapped like 112. Then again, the track was overall kinda slow that night.

He went 12.0 on those tires. Few E55's go quicker than that. And with a H/C package, I don't see the E55 pulling him up top.

But hey...what do I know?

I was at the track a few weeks ago and there was an E55 running 11.8's @ 118 all day long into a 20 mph headwind. I heard he had a bit of tuning and stickier tires.

You better get some sticky tires and spray to make sure that you win!!!

Snorman you own a E55 AMG? Can you give me a little more info on these cars? That would be helpful coming from someone who actually owns one. Thanks. I want to know as much about them as possible...their good and bad and what advantages and disadvanteges they have...thanks

I'll repeat myself: said race is to 140 mph unless the thread-starter changed the conditions.

A co-worker of mine has a CL55. One of my best friends has an E55; I've driven both.

Naturally, the CL55 is quicker; since it's the lightest of the 55 cars (even lighter than the SL55).

If you think a 12.0 1/4 LS1 is a guaranteed win against an E55 AMG up to 140 mph then more power to you

Snorman, when is the last time you raced a 12.0 1/4, crappy-tire-spinning (he would be a LOT slower with the VHT-less street), Auto LS1 with his mods from 0-140 mph on the street?

If you have, your insight would be illuminating

no more what if or what will happen. I dont want this turning into bench racing. I just wanted to know what I am up against. I have never personally run one of these cars and know very few people who can actually afford these cars. So this race is like finding a needle in a hay stack. If I win, I win. If I dont, then I know I will give him a run for his money and in the end it will all be worth it. Race is set for Friday Night after midnight when there is less traffic on the freeways. I will post up the win and video regardless of the turn out.
