Its possible on the street. I had a 80 camaro w/ carb. 305 with 4.56 gears. CRAZY but its the way i bought it. ran a 9.14 in the 1/8th mile. i had fun with it but there was no cruising speed. it was like 55mph at 3400rpm

Good kill Anyways

I've had 2 third gens, one with the 305 tbi. I had gears, intake, exhaust, and a shift kit......bbaarreeeelllyyyy pulled on a Lancer OZ. Any LT1 that was actually racing would murder it..

I had an lt1 and when a 3rd gen would pull up beside me, I would treat it as a honda when they would rev. I would just look over and shake my head, cause I would know the outcome.

well i can see there are still alot of non believers so whatever guys. o and when your behind a car with a loudmouth exhaust system. you can tell he was trying. as for it being tired, i hope not. i was on crages list said it had only 110000 or so, i think it might have been less. anyone around where i live who doesn't believe i'll prove.

I would very much like to see some dyno numbers and/or track times from your car. Have you done either?

Yeah when I used to run my 85 Z-28 (carbed 305 non HO) I used to get spanked regularly by Celica GTS, Civics, and a whole plethora of rice burners. It was like wolves attracted to the sick and young of the herd. But now I prowl

Well as much as I can with my car shakin and stuff from the cam.

my gf's brother has a 305 in it. 87 IIRC with the electric carb. He converted it to run a holley, and I forget what intake. I remember he had the heads removed and milled and cleaned up. Has headers, exhaust, A4, and no gears yet. That thing is still pretty damn slow..

and 5sd tbi is rated a 10 or 20 more hp... can't remember. but auto is rated at 170 hp with 225tq i believe which my 2002z makes that at the wheels at 2500rpms lol i've got a daily driver that is an '89 RS with the 305 tbi/auto set up and tranny slipping and it makes me want to put miles on my 2002 everyday lol.

What does this 92 RS trap at the track?Your mph should shed light on whether the street kill is credible based on merits, not someone who was getting off at an exit anyway. From a roll I don't see it happening. Maybe you were at a downshift advantage with the six speed, where as maybe the lt1 was auto and only downshifted to third? Anything can happen. I've had many a 350 TPI that would hang with a LT1 from a dig, but it was clearly over by 50MPH. I can't see a TBI from a roll even with gears taking out an LT1 making an honest effort

I have a dyno sheet somewhere from my first thirdgen, 88' z with a 305tbi in it, put down 255 ft/lbs at the rear wheels but 165hp lol. Just had no cat, catback, free mods, torque converter, ram-air setup (no effect on dyno lol). Next one had a 305 TPI for a little bit (87) with long tubes, true duals with h-pipe, runners, throttle body, converter with built tranny (stock one went out so might as well build it), then swapped in an LS1/T56 then built a 360ci small block race motor thatr made "decent" power

well i will get the dyno sheets as soon as i run on it. Will be soon. And i plan to be at the tracks opening day...

However I have a track run completely stock with only a gutted cat, this means, 2.73s, 700R4 Open Diff with Radials. Stock Exhaust. 15.3 with the car left in drive. (My first time at the track, got really really shitty reaction times. )

But I understand wanting proof and believe in my car enough to post when I get it. I can say that with the mods I have done, the car has changed completely, it is not a common third gen slug that everyone thinks it is.

Not sure it would be stock. as I described my gf's brothers car it has the same stock options as you, + what I described. I dont think his car is running anywhere near 15.3s. But anything is possible

I';ve met a few people with factory freak cars. My buddy has a stock 2002 SS with the center exhaust, no mods what-so ever when he ran my buddy KC's TA (he had lid, headers, exhaust, tune, tires, free mods, etc, was running 12.70's all day), and pulled KC by about half a car (meaning half of his car was in front of KC's car, some people have different versions of car lengths). KC couldn't believe it. My friend Curtis also has a 96' Cobra Convertible running low 13's all stock except for shorty headers but still factory exhaust system. Must be a wed. car

Default i believe it

ive seen some freak 305s.and ive seen some sick lt1s.my brother in law had a 91 chevy 4x4 305 tbi 5spd.that would beat modded powerstrokes and dodge cummins trucks.yeah were rednecks we use to race anything.he now owns an 83 2wd chevy pickup with a 305h.o.(160hp stock)out of an 88 ss monte.it has a performer rpm intake holley 600 and hooker supercomps with an xpipe and 2 chamber flows.it ran a 16.50 before the intake and carb.not bad for a 500lb cinder block.

Well, my 91 trapped (if i remember correctly) at 88.6 mph. But i no longer have the time slip to double check. That was all stock at damn near sealevel.

So its was 16.6 @ 88.6 mph in the 1/4.
