He seemed to drive fairly well... about "average." Not the average person that runs at the dragstrip regularly, but the "average" driver on the road. Which meant he was doing mid 14s. I go to the track regularly, and regularly see even bolt-on LT1 F-bodies that can't get into the 13s, and LS1 F-bodies that can't get below a 13.7 or so. But I know they are faster than that.

I could say the same thing about all the times some people SWEAR up and down that their stock LT1 F-bodies "raped" 99-04 GT 5spds

So let me get this straight... no LT1 F-body has ever run slower than low 14s, ever? And no stock 99-04 GT 5spd has ever run a faster time than any stock LT1 F-body? Now I understand...

you have the DA, elevation, the drivers, traction, and other things to think about. ive seen LT1 cars run 14.xx and thats their problem.

And I'm just saying that if you are only beating somebody by a tenth or two, and calling their car slow, you're calling your car slow too. Is that not correct?
Nope your just splitting hairs and being a bit of ***** while doing it.

LT1's are odd beasts some only run mid high 14's but I guess age and driver should be largly accountable. There are plenty in the high 13's and no shortage of ones having gone 13.6 with a reasonable trap speed as well.

Sn95's (99+) tend to be mid to lowish 14's, sure some get down to 14.0 but not many. And I have even seen TWO with genuine 13.9 time slips 100% stock. But that is almost unheard of.

LT1 vs sn95 is a drivers race but it is ADV to the LT1.

Now while the Cobra's are rated at more power they have proven to not be that much faster in stock trim. Why??? Well I guess it's down to power delivery, tuning and gearing mostly.

The best I've seen for this year of Cobra is a 13.6, which is good and trap is 101-102mph. But more often than not (and this is the KEY of the point is you will see them running 13.8-14.2 stock.

Which is still slightly faster than most sn95 GT's.

Be a fan of your car but don't go over the top claiming what's inaccurate.

I like Mustang, I mean I really like them and would happily own a GT or Cobra. But liking or owning them doesn't alter the performance of them.

And BTW beating something doesn't mean your car is faster, it means that at the time YOU where faster. It take both man & machine to win a race.

I NEVER claim inaccuracies. From what I have seen, LT1 F-bodies run high 13s on a GOOD day. Same as 99-04 GTs. Anybody that runs mid 14s in a 99-04 GT 5spd is a tard... that's kinda like running high 13s in a 6spd LS1 F-body.

gee what planet are you from?

Sure a sn95 GT is capable of a high 13 on a superday with the best driver and a good running car. But it's by no means the norm, go do a survey on Stangnet or one of the other Stang forums you'll see the norm (being most often) is 14.2+ ET's from factory stock GT's.

Now I'm not hating on the Stang, because as I already said I actually like them. But if you think 90% of the 260bhp GT's run 13's STOCK then you need to do a little research.

So go on, go set up a poll and lets see. Post back in a few days when you have results.

I KNOW that all things being equal, an LT1 F-body 6spd in good shape should be a tenth or two ahead of a 99-04 GT 5spd. I know all about LT1s, and what they can do. When I was sixteen, I had an A4 '94 Corvette. So I know the grunt they have. But I also know how Mustangs go, from the ones I've had/driven. If you want to go by what you NORMALLY see, it would be low 14s for GT 5spds, high 13s/low 14s for an LT1 F-body, same for 96-98 Cobras, and mid 13s for LS1s. I'm just saying that between the GT, the F-body, and the Cobra, they are close enough together that the best driver is gonna win, regardless of what car he's in.

As an LT1 owner, I agree with it being a drivers race. But once the modding begins, we know what happens

Have you got any other times?

Should be in the 13's but the trap won't be startling judging my the mods in your sig. Some DR's and gears (4.10's) would make a big difference.

Heres my 2 cents, stock vs stock and lt1 fbody vs a 99-04 gt is a drivers race with an edge to the fbody...now stock vs stock a 96-98 cobra vs a 99-04 gt the cobra should be with equal drivers around 3 tenths quicker....and now the sn95 cobra vs the lt1 fbody...i own a 95 firebird so listen up, i give the edge to the cobra with equal drivers but only by 1 or 2 tenths at the most...so overall stock for stock Cobra>lt1>gt

and as far as mods go the 4v 32 valve cobras respond just as good as the lt1s and better than the 2v mustangs but not as good as the ls1s(duh)
so its like ls1>lt1/cobra>2vGT
