All mustangs stock except 03/04 Cobras are slow. All mustangs modded with boltons except 03/04 cobras are slow.
Stock LT1s are slow. Stock LS1s are decent.
Only nice mustangs stock are 03/04 cobra, they are the only ones I respect because they can at least get out of their own way.

I can't believe I just read all 6 pages...My brain is hurting! This thread has taken some tangents for sure!
To the original poster, 9 out of 10 your going to take your buddy's Cobra. Just be carefull what speed you start your roll races at with those 2.73's. Has your friend posted a thread on SVTP? There is a thread going right now in the kill section over there and it is an early SN95 Cobra [I believe Mystichrome (?)] asking what his chances are against a basically stock LS1 are...(and the majority of the guys there say he doesn't stand a chance against the LS1
)
And one last note, the '03-'04 Cobras are not the only Mustang that can beat an LS1 in stock trim....Mach1s are pretty bad *** and if you don't have your 'A' game going, than your going to end up being the topic of a few threads at a Mustang forum somewhere!

To the original poster with your gears and his gears this should be a drivers race. Do not go from a dead stop or 30mph roll. Anything else SHOULD be in your favor. I'd get gears asap if I were you. Then there would be no race.
BTW I think your friend is asking the same question (or was) on SVTP and he will get the biggest advice along the lines of 4.30-4.56 gears. If he does you WILL lose with the mods you have.

I'm just saying what is the truth, and I'm not being biased. Stock LT1, GT, Cobra, etc are all slow. Just some motivation to mod, and mod big.
Hell I even think my car is slow and it's faster than 95% of the cars out there. Once you have a decently quick car you realize how boring stock is. Then you realize that you're never going to be satisfied with speed. I'm tired of mid 11s on the street, i don't get a rush when I punch it any more. I know there is a ton people with faster daily drivers, whether it's LT1, LS1, Mustang, Cobra, Mach,W/e.
