This thread is STILL unlocked???
I really don't care if a OEM 350z weighs 3050 or 3300 lbs. It will only see my tail lights continuously pull away, period.
They look like nice cars. Those who buy them for what they are could be satisfied. But the guy who thinks he can hang with my SS is a masochist.

Yeah I know this is quoting from the 1st page but I'm going to address it anyways.
Over all power of what? Sure on the streets it might make a differece but like I said unless the NHRA changes it's rules the WRX is faster in the 1/4 mile. I mean come on man we are talking about the 1/4 mile race here.
Dude isn't that what drag racing is about? The fastest from point A to Point B?
You might want to do a search or rephase that. My car traps a lot higher then 98mph you can be sure of that.
Quicker at what? 1/2 drag racing? Sure I'll give you that.
You know when people say trap speed is the true indicator of a car performance they mean what a car can run in the 1320. Trapping 120mph and running 14's shows the car is quick but the driver sucks. It's peoples way of ruling out crappy drivers. But for some reason you seem to think that trap speed is everything and because one car traps faster then another you can claim it's a faster car. On the street is one thing but at the track where it matters is another. You can trap 200mph but if the other car trapped 98mph and ran a faster 1/4 mile time you azz is on the trailer and on your way home.

^ that's why this is predominately a street-racing forum, which is why trap speed would among the leading indicators of a car's ability in a non-controlled enviroment.
If this sub-forum was primarily for drag-track, then absolutely no quarrel with the statement.
I remember thinking I was king of the world smacking a LS2 A4 GTO (bone stock) in the little STi I had (thing was great for just beating the snot out of an not giving a damn to its future). He came back and waved bye bye as the needle buried in the triple digits, where its clear and dominant power became evident.
Compared to ricers though, I'd bet going over 100 is a treat for them. However, after 130, you better not be impatient with it reaching higher speeds or youll be disappointed. It was a real struggle to get the STi to flirt at the limiter. I can say the exact same about stock EVO's as well.
Mathematically, the 1/4 mi. is intriguing. It's really a fantastic spot(for a vast chunk of street cars) where gearing, shifts, and traction can meet brute force head on. At greater distances, the larger power would almost certainly win, because all other factors would diminish in importance. At shorter distances, the other factors became very important.

One thing you have to say about those 350Z engines is that they are BIG!
So much engine and so little power. If only 3.5L of it is displacement, then what is taking up all of the rest of that space inside the block? Vtec?

I gave you a link of someone who weighed there car on a certified scale. What other proof do you need?
I dont know why mine was so light? Maybe becuase the rims I have are 19*11 in the rear and 19*9.5 in the front. They are Volk Racing, so they are lighter than stock. I think they weigh about 18lbs a piece. So that alone could save 70lbs. O, and I did take out the spare tire. That is the only weight modification I've done. I also have coilovers, which are lighter than stock, so I guess I save weight there.
So are you saying a certified scale is lying? Are you saying HRP is lying about the weight of our cars?

I saw a mr2 in the pic but it doesnt prove it is yours !! I can go to a garage with loads of cars snap some pics and claim all kind of crap. where is this vid of your car on the dyno or with you in it behind the wheel? Better yet a pic of you and an enzo with you behind the wheel? This wouldnt be an argument if you contributed anything to this forum besides arguments!

25 PSI gives us hours of entertainment. I disagree with about 95% of what he says but you have to admit some of the stuff he comes up with is funny - amusing to say the least. There should be a troll icon with with his picture on it!

I'll agree that in a top speed race the WRX falls behind a lot of cars but that doesn't make it a slow car. And I'll agree that some street cars perform better in the 1/4 mile then the car really has in it. But understand a lot lf manufactures build cars to perform well in those areas. So it's not uncommon to see a car perform well 0 to 60 or in the 1/4 mile because they were built fulling knowing they might be used for that and more importantly they would be tested and rated by those numbers.
But again, 13 second 1/4 mile at 98mph doesn't change the fact that the new WRX is still a 13 second car in stock form which is all I started in the beginning.
