90 5.0 Vs. 350Z
The other night me and my friend were coming back from Wal-mart when we ran across a 350Z that was at a stop light. Well the light turned green and we took off normal and the 350Z started pacing us and throwing some revs here and there. Well we were at about 40mph or so and in 2nd gear. My friend tells him to go on three honks. On the third honk they go for it and we start pulling. As my friend hits 3rd gear we have about a car on him or so. When we let off in middle of 3rd we were about 2 cars on him or so. Well my friend slows down and guess what this 350Z does, yes a Ricer fly-by and hits the hazards. Me and my friend couldnt stop laughing. BTW the 5.0 has cai, tb & im, shorty headers, o/r h-pipe, E303, and 3.73's and is a 5 speed LX. It's a pretty quick car for what it has.

Get ready for the flaming. I am sure you will have some people questioning the validity of the race. Nice kill....but had you stayed on the gas much longer I think the 350z would have come by you.

Edited. Somehow I misread. Now I know for sure there will be a host of 350z owners/supporters saying this race didnt happen. Claims are made the the 350z beats Ls1s and Ls2s from a roll so this should be an interesting thread.

Makes sense to me with those mods the two cars should be pretty close in hp with the advantage going to the 5.0 because of torque and possibly weight if its an LX. I know the E303 isn't the best for very low end torque (1000-2250rpm) but you won't even see that when racing from a roll. Plus any 350z owner who claims they can beat an LS1 from a roll is crazy. I've beat a few myself with an 03 Mach 1 pretty easily. My car will hang pretty well with an F-body from a roll usually pulling ahead in 2nd evening out in 3rd and when we hit 4th.
That rice fly by thing pisses my off I almost got in an accident once because some idiot in a last gen Celica though I was racing him (I blipped the throttle in 5th) when he was revving besides me and then he punches it and pulled in front of me put his flashers on and jammed his breaks. I was so close to hitting that tard and I'd be in jail for murder right now if I did my mach was only a few weeks old at the time.

I don't think they understand the meaning of a flat torque curve. The ls1 has more torque at idle than a 350z has at its peak lol. Usually the best way to tell which car is best from a roll is to see its 0-100 times. Road and track has it marked at 14.2 seconds While I remeber an Camaro SS scoring 11.8 and the mach 1 a 12.2.

Have you ever seen a 350z dyno graph? Honestly, if you did, you would not say something as stupid as what you just did. I dare you to find one, that doesnt rival that on an ls1. Matter of fact, show me one that beat this:
I guess 350z have no torque. Complete bafoon!

honestly who cares, stock for stock ls1's take it... after mods anything can happen, instead of talkin about which is faster people should just go out and run them .... internet racing is worthless... for the record i like 350's alot, the guys i drive aound with are mostly 350z onwers.. and a I have yet to lose to a bolt on 350z/ g35. and I have run quite a few.. they just do not respond that well to N/A mods and most of 350 guys know that.. now after FI its a different story.
