lol @ opening the thread back up when this was my final comment before it was supposed to be closed. Made it much more perfect.

But, no I'm not.

Why do you keep talking about your 07 maxima and money in general? Who are you trying to impress? You keep mentioning porches and mercedes and other high end luxury vehicles and how they are better than unit's cobra BUT YOU DONT OWN ONE...hell I can list off plenty of cars that are better than a cobra, or an ls1, or any of the cars I own, but whats the point? That there are better cars out there? Everyone knows that, and if your so into high end luxury cars then why did you buy a trans am? Was it to go fast cheap like everyone else who owns an f-body on this board? Honestly you sound like a half decent guy but your fighting a losing battle. People here are all about going fast, so you saying you have a maxima that will last 150-200k miles is great but no one really cares...

I'm pretty sure my new minivan is worth more than your maxima though

Let the "Mr. Soccer-Mom" jokes begin. All I have to say in my defense, is it's much more family orientated than my 04 crew cab silverado was.

Finite1 - you completely missed my point....

This guy has no clue, your camaro in your sig could be a full second or so faster than his trans am and he wouldnt care because it didnt cost as much his trans am or his 07 maxima...post up some pics of the mini van though lol!

Are you sure it's not
As for pics : I'm at work now, but maybe I will later. It's nothing special It's your basic white Town&Country, w/ ivory/creme colored leather, dvd, etc etc etc.

It gets the job done.

It's definetly not faster... My 2.56's w/ an open dif really hurt it. I might pull of a mid 14. If I had different gears and vortec heads, I'd probably be in the 13's. Anything beyond that, and I'd have to swap out my cam (or add spray ) <-----which I'm really thinking about doing.

Thanks for the compliments, it's a 30 foot car.

Nice yea it looks good for a $500 car! I eventually want to look for an older body style camaro and do either an lsx swap or maybe a 502 or 572 BB crate chevy engine. Not sure though if id want to keep it like a primer gray or a flat black or matte black finish, or do like a real nice custom color. I see some of the plans in yoru sig though, would that be a 406 lsx based engine or sbc/bbc?

Haha hey man I dont know if you read back a few pages but i think he was being sarcastic about 11K for a terminator engine because he was ragging on the cobras pretty bad.

It didn't look like that when it was bought (by my wife, when she was 15/16). It was missing the front clip because the PO hit a deer. Her dad gave her a choice between a corvair convertible (which he still has) and finding something else to fix up. Luckily for me she chose the latter . Lucky for her, her brother was a recent graduate of a vocational school (he took auto body). One L88 scoop, one junkyard front clip, and some metallic grey (with white ralley stripes) later emerged the car as you see it today. My hood is cracking something nasty (from all the weight of the Wyoming snow that accumulates on it while I'm at work for 4 days in a row). When my wife bought it, the car still had the stock 267, rated at 115hp, and 200ftlb. By swapping out that motor for the 355, I've nearly doubled the power my car had.

When I build a 406, I plan on using a sbc 400.

Wow thats nuts as it looks real clean from your sig pic. I hear you on the snow issue, thats why I sold my 98 z28 thats in my sig. Working with mutual funds in boston I had no time to drive it (working 60 hours a week), plus my garage was full of crap so I had to leave my camaro outside with a car cover on it so I decided it was better to give it to someone else who would actually use it. I kind of regret it now but i figure ill be back in something fast once I have bought my house come this June. A forged 406 on the spray would be plain nasty! I love lsx engines but sbc and bbc parts are so inexpensive nowadays (not counting the brodix stuff) and the blocks can be bored/stroked out to huge CI configurations while making gobs of hp and torque n/a that its so tempting to go that route. Im torn between going with another f-body, a c5 FRC, or an old school chevy body for my next build, but either way I def want to go spray or FI.

I'm not talking about it. The thread was supposed to be closed, but mod deleted his post and reopened and it got going again. IN fact, the only reason it even got brought up was to give me leverage in talking about things that cost money. Because what you SPENT is what everyone looks at apparently.

like I said i was looking at this purely from a third-person perspective and agree the Cobra is a nice car. But my last car was Lexus and my Maxima.. just opened my eyes to theres other nice cars out there that, in fact, might be better performers in everything BUT straight line performance.

my other point is that this is ls1tech and I'm not really a Ford fan.. yet the Ford guys come out the woodwork every time to debate **** instead of what should have happened, ls1 heads giving suggestions on how to beat the better platform, huge reputation, and hard to compete with 03/04 Cobra. It went another direction.

but I'm done now.. so I apologize.. pz.

My wife drives a 03 Altima 3.5 that would give my 02 stang in stock form a run for it's money. It was 31 grand. No ****.......31g for rice, what a tard. I guess I have to make the boss happy. It has been slightly altered though. Still it''s no a benz or bugatti or beemer or jag or audi, but it sure feels good to pull on the side of an m3 with a $10,000 GT, which is far behind it's time....technologically speaking, and ask him what my exhaust sounds like............ when we get to the next light. Hell, I'll bolt on a procharger to my riding mower just to beat the neighbor.

I kinda like braking performance too. It helps when you're coming down from 130mph and the "runway" is running out.

Which is why your Cobra has an IRS? And let's not forget, that the "WS6" production code is technically a suspension package, and always has been

Its an IRS out of a Thunderbird made to work on a Mustang, far from designed for handling. And a WS6 Trans Am being good at handling is a joke. Sorry man but he is right, all Mustangs and F-bodies besides the Cobra R's are made for straight line performance. Now the Vette, Viper, and Ford GT are different. They were designed around road courses.
