im gonna throw this out there. kinda just to be that guy. but the modular motor has been in mustangs since 96 and been in other fords since 92? ls1's didnt make it into camaros untill 98 so in reality you have the newer technology. just cuz in 03/04 ford decided to strap a blower on it doesnt make it new technology. sorry to burst your bubble.

 

and so you dont think im that bias. i am a big fan of lsx motors. i just dont like when people hate on things for no reason. bottom line dont care who you are or what you think. stock for stock with both cars properly driven a 03/04 cobra will beat a 98-02 ta or camaro. but as we all kno not everyone leaves their cars stock. so from there the wallet is the limit. there are some ls1's that will walk all over 03/04 cobras and there are some 03/04 cobras that will walk all over ls1's. thats all there is to it.

Umm lol when did ford put those motors in other cars before 03/04. You do know that is a cast iron block with forged internals right i dont remeber the older 4.6s cobras being forged ? sorry to burst your bubble

Yeah it is! Our SS's have the Ram-air hood that adds at least 437rwhp.

Aren't the 02 SS SLP's 345hp? The 02 Z28 is 310hp.
( I know as much as anybody its a very underrated estimate, and that the performance difference of the SS and Z28 are very much the same.. but this is the SLP SS. )
I would think that 35 extra hp (bench racing here, in reality not 35 hp because the Z28 is underrated) so maybe 15-20hp would most definitely help.
Just a thought.

If youre talking about two cars thats potentially a drivers race, I think a Lid and Catback (15 hp), or the 'SLP' package would definitely make a difference in the outcome.
Maybe its just me.

any faster.

 

+1 ive actually seen 01-02 stripper z28's run the fastest times at the local track over any of the SLP edition vehicles. Marketing tool thats all. If you really believe that the SLP options add 15-20 rwhp then thats saying a lid and catback adds 15-20 rwhp and thats a real strech...

 

I agree with both of you, but a Stripper car if much different that a normal Z28.

10 maybe a little more! you get the most power out the ls1s removing the cats and going with some Lts just a catback alone is good for around 7-8 and the lid maybe 2 but that is with a magnaflow or something in those lines the slp exhaust isnt going to flow beter than a borla or magnaflow!

The lid is good for 7 rwhp and it's dyno proven. Add another 7 rwhp for the SLP dual/dual catback and you got 14 rwhp. But honestly 14 rwhp is a little over a tenth at the track. Nice to have but hardly a night and day difference not to mention the fact that the "driver mod" can kill half a second negating that extra tenth and then some.

Bottom line is on our best day with our best drivers any stock LS1 is no better then a very high 12 second car. 03/04 Cobras on thier best day with thier best drivers are mid 12 second cars.

BUT

Both are american, both are muscle and both are a lotta fun to watch eating a Honda Civic with a fart can

A Loudmouth will outflow both of those exhausts. There is NO restriction.
( of course, the Loudmouth is not the same as the "stock" SLP Catback they give you on the SLP SS )
