00 T/A vs 01 S4
First off, i own both cars. The 01 S4 is all stock 6 speed 2.7t 250hp/258tq.
the 00 T/A is a4 with long tubes, 3" exhaust, slp intake, 3200 full lock up stall, fms f13 cam with supporting valvetrain and fully tuned by EPP. Its a fast car, tire shredder BUT i still have 2.73 gears which means when it shifts to 2nd and 3rd it falls way out of its powerband.
first race was from 50 im driving the s4 i got the jump , i pulled a car from the T/A and then it slowly walked past me. 2nd race from 60, i got a slight jump then around 75 the T/A put at least 3 cars on me. walking by pretty hard. shifts to 3rd at 100mph, and i start gaining back all the distance by 115.
I am shocked how much difference gearing makes. I am ordering 3.73s or 4.10's for the T/A first thing in the morning. Thats just redicious a 250hp awd car doing that on the highway...

The gears will def. help out, but don't feel to bad because the same thing happens to me in my S4(2005) vs my friends 2001 SS M6 from a 40 roll i have him by a car then once he hits fourth he then proceeds to stomp me a new one and puts between 2 and 2 1/2 cars on me. KO4 the S4, expensive but so sick.

I went to the track about a month and a half ago, and there was a silver S4 about the same year as your's I guess. It looked stock except for a semi-large FMIC, and a tasteful exhaust, but it was busting out 11s passes all night
