My friend with a A4 LS1 T/A with 4.10 gears, redneck style true dual exhaust, and I dunno what else ran 12.8@108mph I believe. Not bad I would say. I was driving it one night and got spanked by a 300ZX though.

You definately need gears. 4.10s were not too much for his car at all. Infact I would have never guessed that car had 4.10s in it. It would roast the tires from a dead stop clear through 2nd though.
