Default 01 LS1 TA vs. Jeep SRT-8

Just raced a Jeep SRT-8 today. We were both pulling off base (funny how us military people like to race as soon as we get off base) next to each other and he just took off, no warning, no rev, nothin. I popped it in first and took off after him. Caught up pretty quick and pulled on him about 3 cars. Then he slowed down. So I slowed down to get next to him, looked over at him and we both laughed and waved. Then I noticed he was an Officer. Then we went from a roll at about 37 (I know, very bad speed for an A4 to take off from, but hey, whatever) and he took off a split second before I did. He walked 1 car on me and then I pulled it back to get about 2.

The Jeep SRT-8s are quick, and they sound nice. I'm not sure if his was stock or not. I'm glad I didn't get in trouble for racing an Officer, or racing period, he could have written me up, lol.

I saw one of those at the track running a 13.8 but dialed in as a 13.5. Definately impressive for the size of them

37 is a BAD spot for A4, because it doesn't downshift, just stays in second and it takes about a second or two before it kicks in.

Give or take a few mph.Its about 33 correct, but ive had it go hard from about 36.I could go outside and film my tach and speedo for proof, but why nitpic?
Nice kill man....ive got those jeeps and the trailblazer ss always tryin to test me too. Those things are pretty stout for their size.

Yeah, for some reason my T/A has never downshifted to 1st above 36. If it would have been a negotiated race I would have tried to get it, but I still beat him. so i'm happy.

I agree. The A4 on my GT Mustang is the same way. 20-29 mph and 60-69 mph are ideal spots for the auto.

I have basically driven nothing but Jeeps before my Mustang. From the 5.2L AWD to the 4.7L, but I have to say the SRT-8 Jeeps are bad *** and will do 0-60 in well under 5 seconds.
