Default Gt300???

Ran into one of these on the 4lane today in the Viper and had a few quick ones, pulled him easily both times from 2 rolls, and he sped off. '05+ bodystyle, dark gray/silver(not charcoal) with black/charcoal stripes goin down it, and GT300 down the side. Haven't ever seen these out or read about them, does anyone know anything about it? Figured it was just another GT with an appearance package or some ****. If anyone knows holler back at me. I've seen the GT350's and 500's but not this.

Im guessing its one of the many appearance packages for the 05 and up GTs like you said. The 300 being the hp rating. Ive heard of that package, but have never seen it in person. Did it sound stock?

It didnt sound bad, but basically just like a regular '05+ GT from what I could tell. He lives around here somewhere in town so I'm sure I'll see it again, try to get a picture or something if I do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just an appearance package for a regular 05+ GT. There's a blue one in a town near me.

GT with stickers.....300 is base HP.

There are SOOO many stickered options for the S197s it truely is embarrasing to all the mustang enthusiasts. It's pretty much a joke.

Stickers...thre are a million different stickers you can buy for a mustang. Dealers order and install them to make the car look like a "bargain shelby" or something. Hell, google "mustang decals" sometime...

GT300 was a one of one Mustang GT made into a GT 300 by the owner of that car. Very rare...

He just bought the car though, it was like this when he bought it. Thought it might be a dealer option or something.. Previous owner maybe?

Your guess is as good as ours (mustang owners). There is no such thing as a Mustang GT300 from Ford. Could be a dealer special package or it could be some stripes the owner put on. One thing is for sure though, you beat a Mustang GT.

Haha..I didnt figure it was anything special, he just kept wanting to play so I did, no bragging involved. The Viper is not too quick anyways, '94 RT/10.

couldnt agree more. In my local group there's a handful of mystery kit cars, the majority of which are v6s. I mean theyre all done up nice and all, but just the idea turns me off from them.

You got that right. I've only gotten to see a few Vipers so far in my life. In my area, I'm deprived of seeing cool cars until the car show comes to town. But I did about a year ago get to see a real sweet Viper and sit in it. It was the first black Viper ever made and was signed by the President of Mopar. It was for sale at just some regular old used car lot on the highway. I tried to talk my dad into buying it but he just laughed when I suggested it. lol.

Ford started down the dark path awhile ago IMO. Going from a 5.0 to larger more complex powerplant with OHC, then trying to make it a low end/midrange powerhouse while competing against a 5.7. Ouch.

And the scoops just plain got out of hand.

I hope this doesnt go too far in the S197. Ford really got its crap together there IMO. Finally a decent base model stock head to use the OHC, much better chassis, very little fake scoopery.
