Well...the S2000 in question had a Vortech Blower on it before, then my buddy wrecked it hitting a guard rail after spinning out on some wet pavement. The car was fixed, the blower removed, then reinstalled. After the reinstall, it had a severe oil leak and even caught on fire twice. It's been out of commission for around 5 months now. The head has been pulled and resurfaced, but the car is still not back together.

So it will be awhile until that thing cranks over again for the first time.

^Not when its got the wrong length rods in it and a completely half assed setup that does not have a good intercooler. The use of the 3SGTE timing gear is correct though if he is only using a 5SFE crank. Its the deck height of the block and the head itself that determine what timing belt gears to use. If he has a 5SFE crank in a 3SGTE block, then the deck height is stock.

As for the S2000, sounds like a thought out setup. A 46MM WG is pretty huge and not really needed unless it a very big power app, but it wont really hurt much either. With what sounds like a .63 AR turbine housing, the extra flow wont hurt up top either. .63 is a pretty mild AR that will give good spool in most cases, but might restrict the turbo's ability to flow a lot of gases at higher revs and all. Exhuast restriction is bad in any app, but especially that one.
And with that very thick HG (just one LOL) he will have done a lot to beat the high compression of the car. Sometimes copper gaskets can be a bear in a DD app, but that gasket sounds like a bit of a hybrid.
However, the efficient head and bottom end at 17PSI from what I guess is a 57trim is going to move. I wonder how much the stock bottom end can take in terms of power if its being reved to 8K. Between that and the HG, watch for detonation. Run a conservative timing map for pump gas, especially if its **** water 91 like we get around here.
Hondas tend to use lower pressure ratios and more compression and head flow to make power, so with that F20C (S2000 motor) a 57 trim makes a bit more sense than on a DSM which tends to use higher pressure ratios to make power. For a Honda, 17PSI is a lot of boost. For a DSM its just getting started

Let us know how the race goes man. I wish the MR2 all the best, but from what I have read it just doesnt add up well. High boost application at any displacement need some careful thought and the right stuff to work well.

I'll put it this way...if you don't beat him, give Skip Barber a call or something...I've chugged from whiskey bottles that are nearly as big as his engine. Stinkin pathetic. MR2 = POS

With a 3mm headgasket it should hold it pretty well. There's a guy locally with one and a T67 making in the upper 400's on 93octane. The bottom ends are strong in the S2000's once you lower the compression with a headgasket.
