98 cammed Z-28 vs. 2006 C6 vette
This is a Which will win thread, the race will be as soon as the rain stops hopefully on Friday. My co-worker just bought a brand new 06 Z-51 C6 vette, it's an auto convertable. Fast, light but stock. I have a 98 Z-28 with a Patriot 226/226 cam, LS6 intake, Ported TB, MSD Wires, Pacesetter LT's, ORY, Hooker catback, SLP Lid, Bellow, Dyno and street tuned through a auto. I've got some suspension work and 17x11's with 315's out back. My car pulls like a SOB and has serious traction issues. I think I can run with his vette but then again his car is hella fast. Do you guys think I have a chance? From a Dig or roll? My car is stronger from a roll and hooks up better.

Dig, you win. Roll is a closer race because he has the gearing advantage (6spd auto). I've had a 6psd auto C6 keep up with me pretty good from a 50-140 roll and I had him by 70rwhp! Best stock C6 A6 auto vert time is 12.5+, which you should be under easy. HP is about even, but you have the suspension advantage, and his weight advantage is less because it's a vert and they don't do the base package in verts (lightest), so his weight is probably 3300+ or so.

OK, the results. We ran today at lunch going to the chevy dealer so he could drop his car off with the service department. From a Dig I had no traction so he pulled me about three cars until I hit the top of second and found traction. I managed to pull him back in and we shut down with my nose just passing his passenger side door. It took me to about 80 mph to catch back up and make up lost ground. Race Two from a Roll, this one was from a first gear roll at about 15mph. He hits it first then I nail it, we were dead even from first to second, I slowly pull past but once I hit 100 mph he starts reeling me back in. It was really almost an even match, I had the advantage down low and he had it up top. I was impressed with my old 98 Z-28 with 141,000 miles. She still runs like a raped ape. That vette ain't no joke though, with some bolt ons he'll be smoking me so it's about time for a TSP 402 stroker with a good heads and cam package.

Btw, good run. Sounds like you need some good drag radials to give you traction though.

I think you will take him from a dig and a roll. The conv. are heavier and his auto means he is putting less power to the ground than a manual. He has the worst combo for performance, conv/auto. If it were a C6 hardtop M6, it would be closer. Youll get him
