Ran a few Vettes...C5/C5 ZO6
On way home from work, picked on a C5 who's plate read BAADC5. dropped into 3rd revved up on him and he takes off, getting the jump after getting about 1/2 car reel him and pass, then he didnt wanna play too much more.
2nd race was against a modded C5 ZO6, this race was probably the closest race yet to date. Drove out on 505, after getting into the open without too many cars in front, he honked 3 times goin from about 75, we both hit it and are pretty much dead even, I start to SLOWLY pull, but when going to 4th he was still in 3rd he got a little in front, but after getting 4th started to make a come back and slowly gettin him up top, by this time we're around 140 and a car was coming up in my lane so we slowed, went back to where some folks hang out here in my town to talk about what we have done. Cool cat and a good race, he was making a lil over 400rwhp and traps 122 in the 1/4 from what he said. That was the 1st time i have had a run and been so close, frickin ZO6's are so light lil over 3100lbs compared to my 3700lbs+ and then my tall heavy *** of 270lbs. None less his car sounded nice. Since we only ran once i would say are cars were prety even.

Pretty much whats done to all 03/04 cobras that dont have the S/C upgrade, lol.
Steeda CAI,SCT BA2400 mass air,Accufab TB/plenum,old Stage II Stieg port,2.93upper/4lb.lower,cooling mod,PFAB I/C resivior,Fluidyne HE,Magnaflow X w/cats,3" flowmaster catback,IRS brace,mcleod clutch,26 spline input shaft in the tranny,and MGW shifter, I think thats it.
The bottom end has been re-done since I burnt a hole in my #3 piston, so the bottom end is ready for more power, its just a matter of when it may see it. Here's a run down of the work done to the short block:
3.572" Bore
Stoke stroke
Probe 18.1cc dished pistons with off-set wrist pins
Ross Tool-steel taper wall wrist pins
Stock 03/04 Cobra Iron block race-prepped & machined (deburred, bore/honed with torque plates, line-bore checked, block magged, etc)
Stock 03/04 Cobra 'Manley' rods reconditioned (checked & re-sized as neccessary, then balanced) These rods use ARP cap-screw bolts.
Stock 03/04 Cobra 4340 Forged crankshaft Race-prepped, ground & polished.
Rotating assembly 'zero' balanced with stock harmonic dampner, stock flywheel (resurfaced for new clutch) & new pressure plate.
Clevite 77 main & rod bearings
Perfect Circle Plasma-moly rings gapped at .022 top & second
ARP Main & Head studs
Heads given 3-angle performance valvejob, cleaned, inspected, valvesprings checked/tested, guides replaced as neccessary, new Ford valvestem seals & reassembled.
Cometic MLS head gaskets
The motor can handle 800+RWHP. The pistons/crank/block can handle 1000+HP, the Connecting rods are rated at 800 but have been known to handle over 1000. The connecting rods are the 'weakest' link, followed by the pistons & crankshaft which have also been known to handle over 1000HP. The block can handle goobs more. The rings have been gapped for over 800RWHP applications.

He started to pull on you through third, and you were able to run him down a Z06 in fourth with all the extra weight in a mustang? Isn't it a little odd, but I've never really seen a mustang outrun a ZO6 unless it could take out the hole or at least through the lower gears. I know the Z06 has a 1:1 fourth, but that's just a little odd.
Either way, good first post.

Pretty impressive isnt it how a damn Z06 will give you that good of a run with all your mods. People would never believe me when I said our Z06 always gave my Cobra trouble until I upgraded the SC. Where are you from? I think Ive seen a C5 with that plate.

Newgene, im 1:1 in 4th also. I know the C5 ZO6's redline around 101mph or so in 3rd which is similar to 03-04 cobra's 103mph in 3rd. I went into 4th right around 100, so i think he took his car right up to redline if not a little past. Either way you look at it....It was a good race, i know weight plays a big factor, so i know it took every bit of my 503rwt to start to edge him out.

I-505 Between Vacaville and the I-5 junction (which is the entire length of the freeway..lol) is a racers dream.....Not heavily traveled, two lanes each way and straight and flat...
You have a nice Snake. Good run and nice kill!!! Did you ever find out what mods the Z06 had? You mentioned 400whp so i'm assuming LT's/intake/catback/tune?
