A local guy was running mid 11's on drag radials and stock turbos.
But your friend doesnt seem the brightest should have swapped in a rb26..

Thanks. I was wondering about that. IIRC Supras are the same way. Nice, but kinda funny when you think about a 220HP car havign a 6 speed manula capable of handlign about 4 times that output LOL.

I would want the lower ratio anyway in a 300ZX to help on the launch. And it wont hurt for in-gear acceleration on the back half of the track either....

Good to know, I guess I am behind on my erminology

Wrong again. The MKIV Supras had a 5 speed manual if they were non turbo and a 6 speed getrag manual if they were twin-turbo. The 6 speed in the Supra is capable of holding over 1200HP, i'm not sure what the 5 speed is capable of but I would assume around 500-600WHP. The 300ZX has a Nissan 5 speed manual tranny in both NA and TT cars that is capable of holding 800+HP.

Both the Supra and 300ZX are not the greatest 1/4 mile cars stock, but with simple suspension/tire modifications they can be made into excellent track cars. Both the Supra and 300ZX have ran 10 second 1/4s on STOCK turbos. Both cars respond scarily to modifications....

Stock turbos on a 300ZX are 13g class and 15g class on Supras. Supras also come with 550cc injectors stock. Thats why it doesn't take much to get them into the 11s on stock turbos. What's impressive is getting a tiny 9b turbo'd, heavey-*** 3/S into the 11s on stock turbos (I think 11.9 is about the limit). The 3/Ses got the short end of the stick on that....they have the smallest turbos, the smallest fuel injectors and they weigh almost 2 tons.

Yeah, a lot of people under estimate all three of these cars. i've seen Adam from Austin come down here and lay low 11-high 10 second 1/4s in his VR4, looks and sounds bone stock.

Yeah, our friend Mark ran 10.7@131.xx in his '91 Stealth TT with the stock rims and drag radials, no NOS (race weight 3,900lbs). He won fastest car at the National 3/S Gathering in '05 with that run. You'd never know the car was even modded by looking at it, unless he popped the hood....

i have owned both and a healthy bolt on 300zx will outrun your stock trans am. most of the mods you have aren't for hp.

my stage 4, intake, catback, test pipes, ash-spec ecu with 15psi would outrun my intake exaust ws6.

it seems though the kid is a moron and has no clue what he is doing. i would race him for fun cause it could very easily go either way.

like another member said 300zx's have a hard time with traction but love topend. so race him from a stop if you can.

Hate to see the nice Z32's getting butchered. They were a supercar for their era.

heh we need to start making up when we loose. well we lost cause uhh my TA is on DoD Safemode..........lol so i was only running 6 cylinders..

and stock 300TTs have run 13.2- 13.3 range. their not slouches but those that ran low 13's were few and far between. nice looking cars. ntm back on the old tv show where that british guys drives the cars.

they did the New vs Old. and the 300zx tt spanked the 350z.

The best I've heard for a stock 300ZX TT was 13.5. I've never come across that figure myself though. Most were low 14- high 13.

I have seen low 13s as well, but it's not common.
