OK, let me get this straight....A Civic Si can "possibly" run mid 14's stock, and then run 13's with just a CAI and a "Hondata tune"? So with a header, and a cat-back they can run 12's right?

Hondata tune/CAI brings relatively large gains on those K20s. Full bolt-ons+ Hondata= mid 13s @ 103+

One of my friends just bought an RSX type-s and I must say I was quite pleased by the ride. It was smooth, comfortable, sits nice, all around a nice commuter car. I don't see why anyone would want to race with it though, doesn't have any kick at all to it.

Nice kill, I am thinking about purchasing a Si for a daily driver. I test drove one, and I like it. I was by no means impressed with its acceleration but, the car drove nice and shifted very well. The car is pretty slow under 6100 rpm. But, once the cam profiles switch it has a little bit of acceleration to it. Also, it gets pretty good gas mileage.

Wow! That is pretty impressive if you think about it.

I hate customized tags on cars. I saw a BMW E46 M3 at the 1/8th mile the other day with the tag saying "WHYTRY?" running mid 9's.

Yea, the k20's LOVE bolt ons. They really wake the engine up from what I hear. And I also agree with the customized tags...except for a couple. Some are alright...but most are just stupid.

Very much so... had I not gotten this car (and if I coud deal with having a FWD car again), I would have probably ended up with an '05 RSX-S.

So what would you do to that RSX-S as far as go fast parts? That friend of mine with one would probably be interested in it.

He could always boost it. Seems to be the popular thing with imports who are trying to actually make decent power (not to say that domestics don't do it either).

I told him he could go that route, but he isn't one to just drop 5 grand on a blower. It would be part by part working it into something.

I already told him if he puts a catback on the car I'm going to kill him, he's better off with a header into a cutout to keep it subtle.

If anything a cutout wouldn't be to subtle. He should go maybe DC header 4-2-1, or a Megan header, then have a shop fab up a nice 2.5 pipe straight back, have no idea what kind of muffler though...don't know what sounds good on lil 4 bangers. But basic bolt ons and maybe some BC cams would make that car run pretty damn good for a 2 liter.

Depending on how fast he wants to go, he can make that thing fairly mean... good intake, race header, exhaust, upgraded motor/tranny mounts, and a Hondata K-pro (or S200) w/ a good dyno tune would yield him a highly-decent power level, and mid thirteens on a good day

+1. I guess you could say the k20 is kinda like the ls1 with bolt ons....they love them. Can shave .5 to a full second off of them with good parts and a tune.

Go back to your diesel truck forum, you never have anything to say worth any weight here.

We can still discus other engines out there. Not everyone here has an LS1...such as Irunelevens. But it's all good, because he has some knowledge about other motors, and hell some people here probably wouldn't mind learning a thing or two about some of our possible competitors out there.

RIGHT YOU ARE! But I would still have to see it with my own eyes (not even a posted time slip will do) to believe that a FULL WEIGHT, other wise stock, RSX-S or new SI will run mid 13s @ 10x with just those mods. Strong motors (K20s) YES, that strong in an almost 3000# car, I doubt it!
