Default How to convert video

I have a 4 minute video of me in my 2000 TA "previous ride" racing multiple cars from other trans am's to saleens, etc. It's saved as an AVI in real player and youtube will not accept it "says it's too big".
My question is, if that's the case, then why do you see 8 min videos on you tube? I can only imagine that AVI's take up more space than other video formats. How should I change this?

I'd also like to edit this a little bit. Can anyone recommend me a good/easy video editor?

Your video is probably in Dv-AVI format which is great quality but huge file size. You may notice that it is of superior quality to streaming vids on youtube. This is because youtube videos are very compressed to make them download faster. You tube only accepts files up to 100 mb I believe.

You need to find an editor and just increase the compression of the video which will reduce the file size until it is small enough for youtube. Windows movie maker will do the trick i believe.

+1. i recorded a high def video of me at drag strip, was only about 90 secs, but i had to edit it using video software to get it posted on youtube. youtube even "downgraded" it more, so it actually looks like **** now. (software i use is pinnacle studio plus $99, but there's cheaper **** you can use that works fine)

Thanks guys, pretty much what i figured.

$99 is a little steep for me. i'll try my luck with www.download.com and see what I can find out.

Also, i didnt even know there was a multimedia section.

I use windows movie maker also to convert mine that I save onto the computer. It is easy to use. Just import the file to movie maker and you can add a title, credits, music and all the good stuff. Most computers come with movie maker there, just go to your start up menu and into all programs. Then you can go to the link for video.ls1tech.com on the site here, just scroll down past the drag racing section a little, register and load it right onto ls1tech.
