Irunelevens, I know this for a fact, I would hit 200 before the BMW would.

After the boys at LG Motorsports lowered my car a bit, the improvement in top speed stability is phenomenal. Not to mention the extra torque from the R&D cam that Louis designed. The ported 90 mm FAST and ported 90 mm T/b were worth every penny on the big end.

BTW I am not knocking the M5 V10, just saying it can't hang with my modded LS1.

You've got, what, 60rwhp more and at least 45lbs more torque? I would hope so unless your 6th gear is way too tall vs. the M5s 7spd.

That Hans Stuck video of him hitting 199mph on the Autobahn in the M6 is pretty cool.

Lets say you take 3 V10 M5's and they way 4000, 4750, and 5500 lbs, exact cars with the only difference being the weight by adding load. All 3 cars will go the same speed ?? I question it because it doesn't make total sense to me. I fully understand that the weight is going to effect the acceleration but it seems to me that the weight is going to have some sort of effect on the overall top speed of a vehicle.

Yes, they will all go the same speed because the gearing is the same. Redline in 7th gear is redline in 7th gear reguardless if you weigh 2000 or 8000 pounds.

However, if they had something badass like a continuously variable tranny hooked up to each car that weighed differently, the lighter car would get to a higher speed(and get there faster) because of the horsepower equation.

lol yea those cars are no joke..without the limiters they will run right up to around 200MPH..insane for a 4 door car. And not to mention a V10 spinning to 8250..

I'll race you to 200 anytime as long as you are in the car that weighs 8000 lbs. You may get there but it will take a lot longer.

I'll weight 8000 and have 4x the power. I'll bet I will get there faster and be more stable.

Typical BS argument. You never said anything about having 4x the power. I said 2 exactly the same cars, with one having a good amount of weight added. The heavier car will not get to 200 as fast as the lighter car. If the weight is too great it won't even come close. So please stop saying that weight doesn't effect top speed. It effects top speed and acceleration to top speed.

Sounds like a fun race. Slapping more expensive cars always makes it that much better.

On a related topic, did anyone read the 200mph shootout in the latest Car and Driver (I believe that was the magazine it was in)? The Mercedes SLR McLaren and the Lambo Murcielago didn't even hit 200mph in the two mile test they did, hahaha. Supposedly the hot weather contributed to this. They also said they were surprised that the Veyron did not win, but that's what happens when you put ANY stock car up against an 1,100 rwhp Viper...haha. The Lingenfelter Vette kicked some ***, as well.

Yes, I read that. Had the viper and corvette been able to get traction who knows how fast they could've gone. Neither could get traction until mid 4th gear. That is sick POWER.

Yes, but the lighter cars will get to that top speed a bit quicker.

Cool. But he could have stayed right there with the A/C blasting, and 4 people comfortably seated inside LOL.

M5s are bad *** cars.

And to get the damn facts straight, the car has 400HP. You must go into iDrive, and select Sport mode to get the full 500.

None of this M Mode BS.
