So yesterday I was driving up rt. 12 in Wauconda IL. and I saw a black STI the new body style. Well any way the guy does a fly by so I go after him and we were doing 75 mph and he had his girlfriend in the car as did I and his girl friend was telling me to go first and then he'll go and I pointed to him to start because I new he needed it. She kept telling me to go first and then finally he took off as did I. I dropped her in 3rd and hammerd down and he was about half a car ahead since he went first and I closed that gap right away. We were nose to nose and then he shifted into 4th and started dropping back pretty quick. He was about a car length behind and then I shifted to 4th and thats when I really pulled and got out ahead by another 5 lengths!!!! I got up to about 135 and then slowed down and waited for him. We then caught a light but there were people in front of us. He rolled down his passenger window and says "what do you have done to that thing?" And I said, Its stock and then this dork says to me " Im a STREET RACER and thats not stock!" I chuckled and then said... Oh yah you got some cash in that wallet? he replied "yeah I always do!" So I said ok lets do it again then and we could go from a dead stop maybe youll have a chance then! He then said "forget it" and rolled his window up and turned his face the other way and stayed behind me the whole time! The best part is that they told me to go first because they thought that they had me. All I know for mods that he had was exhaust thats all that I could tell for sure. Even my girlfriend laughed when he said " Im a street racer!" What a dork.

 

Good kill, but watch out for those professional street racers. Awd sucks on the highway.

 

Ha ha yup. I think he just ran out of gear they have 3.90's from the factory.

 

Their gearing is one reason I would take an Evo anyday. Untill the last model year or so, they hit 4th right as the cross the lights, killing their traps and hurting ETs too. Their gearing is just too aggressive. With that 2.5L they should not run it that high. The midrange TQ is good and they could get away with much longer legs.

Which is one of two reasons you kicked his ***. The other being more power anyway.

Hmmm.... I liked my 12.3 second Evo just fine. 4 doors, AWD and 300/300 (1700 in mods) worked really well in the Seattle rain.

The best part is when I got tired of it I was able to trade, straight across, for my current Cobra.

 

 

I always get a little nervous when I line up next to an evo or wrx. There's always the "Can't lose to a ricer!" factor in there. But a fast car is a fast car!

 

yeah with the snow and everything here awd and performance would be the best of both worlds. Hopefully one day i'll have the z, the mach, the 240 and an awd turbo car. i have 3/4's of it now.

 

Yah that was me. I was so happy to catch a race with you because I really havent raced that many LS1's.

I dont wanna dis the ricers or nothing Because the evo and the sti are both respectable cars. I've driven both of them and I love them. I was considering those before I bought my TA until my friend reminded me of my goal of one day having a car that pulls the tires off the ground. Plus I love muscle!

 

What is up with this mentality. I can't get a race with someone unless they absolutely know they can beat me.... (700+rwhp) I understand its kinda like getting your *** kicked by a midget.... but I'd hardly consider a 600whp fwd car the equivalent of a midget. I think losing to anything putting 600 to the ground is an honorable death.... even a lawnmower!!!

 

I didnt know integra's were REAR WHEEL drive

How do you have traction with 700hp in an integra? Especially with wheels that are the same size as my spare

 

Please tell me you were joking around!!! I know you can't possibly be so dense that you didn't realize I was speaking about the cars that I race!!! No tire will ever dead hook with a fwd making as much power as I do on the street..... but these huge 26 inch tall drag radials I have on the front help alot. Those and my front mount are the only indicators that my car is fairly quick!!! I know it looks wierd to most people, having the big tires in front..... but I think it actually looks kinda cool!!!

 

I think it looks like you're dragging the rear around on the rims. To each their own.

 

Damn dude, your on a slope and yet the car looks level!! Definitely a sleeper.

 

gsr, I'd race you in my 6 cylinder from a dig 1/8th mile preferably, but I can do 1/4 too!
